GT500 style stripes installation tips?

I just ordered the 10in matte black stripes from American muscle for my black 2014. Does anyone have any tips to make them turn out well?

Take your time, a good amount of water with a tiny bit of soap from a spray bottle will help maneuver it. Then work out wrinkles and bubbles with a squeegee wrapped in a microfiber cloth so as not to gouge or scratch the vinyl.

Above all, take your time. Line it up with painter's tape and measure everything out.

Don't rush it under any circumstances.

I had mine done by a pro. Even though he has done stripes a lot it still took him around 8 hrs. to complete. Dont be fooled , this is not an easy job. Take your time for sure.

I did mine and it took me 18hrs. By far the hardest part was the front bumper. Like everyone says take your time, a tiny error is magnified x10 and you'll automatically look at it every time you look at your car. I did my hood twice because the stripes tend to tapper near the front because of the curve of the hood. It drove my ocd nuts until I removed it and redid it properly. If you have the cash I suggest getting a pro to do it, its a very meticulous job, I'm sure I got a couple of grey hairs from this install. Good luck!

Thanks everybody! c_rizzle that was a really helpful link. It would cost 5x as much to have it professionally done, and I think I can get it right in less than 5 tries so I don't think I'll go that route. Overall I'm getting the idea the most important thing is to keep everything clean and wet. Thanks for the help and wish me luck!

Are you going bumper to bumper? Or just hood to trunk?

Looks good from the pic.

I'm going bumper to bumper. I only have the hood and trunk done now. Bumpers are the project for tomorrow.

My wife worked at several dealerships 'years ago'. She knows a guy that does the stripes, pin stripes etc., for local dealerships. She found out he does stripes, on the side in his spare time. He came to my house and installed my GT 500 (American Muscle) stripes for $150 labor. I could have never done this myself Your doing a nice job ericp16

I finished it up today! It ended up being a very doable project. The key was to make sure it is COMPLETELY dried before peeling off the backing tape. Even with having to redo a couple little sections, the kit from american muscle left me with enough leftover to do it again. Click image for larger version

that's probably because you've got a convertible you saved the whole roof length.

Yeah I thought on the black a color might look too flashy. The matte black is the subtle look I wanted.
