3.31 gears on auto

Hey guys...

I am hearing a lot that 3.73 for a 3.7 V6 automatic is not ideal...I am being to 3.31 is the way to go for a v6 automatic, especially if it is daily driver.

Thoughts ?

Are you looking for best "off the line" excelleration? If so, go with 3:73's or 4:11's.

Looking for something in the middle (good MPG and punch)? The the 3:31's are a good combo for that.

It's all in how you plan to do your daily driving. This is why there are a few different choices.

I got the performance package on my 2014 v6 auto with 3.31s and it definitely gets off the line quicker then say, my old 2011 V6 with 2.73s. Yes you will lose a little mpg but its minuscule. For a daily driver i believe this is the best option.

I'm looking for more than 3.31 but don't know if the motors got enough to run 3.73 without effort after replacing the driveshaft

I have 4.10's on my mustang. And it's so aggressive with the MPT tune. I love the way you take off. It didn't really hurt my MPG in my opinion. Then again I don't care about MPG.

I have 3.73s and couldn't be happier! 3.55s would have been an excellent choice also.

3.73s here as well. Love em. I think 4.10s would have been too much for a DD for me and 3.31 would have been too wimpy. 3.55 and 3.73s were the only ones I considered.

Any thoughs on 3.08??

I saw them for sale on a site, ford racing components. Seemed like it would add a nice little jump without sacrificing a huge amount of gas mileage...

If you're switching from 2.73s, you aren't going to see much of a difference. Go with the 3.55s or better yet, 3.73s.

Hmm... that sounds about ideal actually, I find myself eaking up to 75-80 to get the rpms higher and have passing power... Not that I would need it lol ..... 3.73 even sounds good to me. hmmmmmm....

I went from 3.31's to 3.73's. Could' be happier. Launches way harder and faster than with the stock gears. Pull the trigger and get the 3.73"s and you won't be disappointed.
