I had a Nissan Maxima that had a CAI that kept popping off too, always at a bad time. I used some sand paper to scuff up the silicone that connected to the TB,seemed to help.

Buy a longer piece. That silicone rubber is easy to find. There are places that sell a ton of that stuff for custom intake fabrication

Also maybe that zip tie is holding the intake tube too rigid and then the engine moves from torque and what not its slightly tugging on the connection till it pops off

I agree I just installed headers so the increase in torque is there

Make sure that hose clamp is TIGHT, not snug. Tighten that thing down.

Zip Tie? on my Airaid at that end (where filter attaches) is a hose clamp. if it comes off again with hose clamp maybe a spot of RTV to act as hose clamp locktite.

first time we thought it came off cuz of long cantilever and vibration so we added that zip tie. now it still came off I dot know what it is maybe the zip tie connection is too rigid I like the longer silicone idea though

below is a response from JLT staff:

the only way the tube can come out of the coupler is if it's too tight.
The clamp only needs to be snug, finger tight. When it's too tight the engine heat can soften the plastic causing it to form to the tightness of the clamp. When that happends it can slip out.
Finger tight and it will not come out because it will not have force to compress.

How much truth is there to this?

it doesn't make sense to me but I would try that b4 anything else. They deal with them every day.

The intake isnt in a positive pressure situation, there isnt any need to beast mode it on. "tight enough" is all it needs to be to seal against leaks, his reply makes sense. I've actually crushed aluminum intercooler piping tightening a T-bolt down too hard and it started blowing off; i ended up just making a bad problem worse. Now i just make everything "snug" unless it gives me a reason not to, and then i try to address it in a different way if at all possible.

Make sure it is snug and remember that your motor will rock some when you go WOT so it needs to move some.

If you overtightened that there is a chance another piece is too tight that is keeping it from fitting correctly. I would loosen all pieces and let it adjust to where it needs to be to where nothing is pulling or out of place and the snug everything up.

I have a zip tie on one end holding filter and the other end going to the engine is super tight I am not taking any more chances

I should not have to worry about when it's gonna fall again and where I'll be at... the piece is after market and it shouldn't happen

Are you saying that the part that popped off is now super tight? Because everyone just said that it should only be snug. Too tight and it'll probably pop off again

If you look at the picture in post #1, there is a zip tie that i used at the heat shield location. Initially, when the filter first came loose from the clamp, we thought it was due to vibration alone. So we re tightened the clamp, but also added the zip tie to prevent it from overly vibrating. This time around when it came loose, we had the clamp on tight and the zip tie on there. Basically, regardless of either connection setup, the thing came off.

which end does it come off at? If it's at the MAF end I would look to see if there is equal clearance around where it goes into the box. I would guess it is hitting on the box and prying the tube off the MAF end. You may need to re-center it, increase the hole diameter or motor mount to prevent some engine movement.

Not what I was asking. You said this time around, you made sure the clamp was "super tight." Earlier in the thread, you showed that JLT said it should only be snug. That's what I was getting at. You may be over tightening the clamp.

Gorilla GLue, duct tape and some more zip ties...or you can just put the stock intake back on, sell this one and get your intake manifolds ported
