Un-married = Un-locked = Good. You do know you'll have to buy a tune correct?

As long as it's unmarried-aka-unlocked, you're all good to go and use it on your car, and if you ever get rid of the tuner make sure to unlock it and you can resell it for a solid price.

Hold on! I met the president of SCT, Rick Trudo who also had just bought "Bully Dog", at the 2014 American Muscle Show and after speaking with him I changed my mind about used SCT's. Check with him first at rickt@sctflash.com

Sorry bout that. Are you aware that there is a SCT4 out now? I think that is the best deal even if more money.

I just bought my BAMA tunes from AM tonight. I am hoping to see some good results. I am hoping it will make my automatic shifting feel better. Sometimes I feel like the throttle lag is too much when I first press on the pedal to accelerate. Do people run the race tune as their daily driver as well? I just wanted to say, I really love my car and this community. I dont think I will ever drive an import car or euro car ever again. Thank you much everyone.

Are there different tuners for different model cars? i.e. 5.0 vs. 3.7?

Yes, with an automatic transmission it should almost be a night and day difference. I think you'll find your money well spent.

It appears to just depend on the OBDII plug connection? The SCT X3 and X4s will work on any Mustang from 96' to 14'.

One other thing to check that can affect the price of what you want to pay is how many unlocks that the tuner has left. As an example, I bought one (used) from it's original owner, who unlocked it. When I got it, it showed 4 unlocks left. I "married" it to my Mustang, used it to load a few various tunes that I used, unmaried the tuner and sold the car. I then sold the tuner to it's third owner, and the tuner was unlocked (unmarried), and had three unlocks left, so it can be unlocked and resold two more times from the buyer I sold it to.

You'd want to know that there are some unlocks left on the tuner AFTER you are done with it if you plan to ever re-sell it. Otherwise, make sure the price is a good one if you are the last person to buy the tuner with the last unlock count.

It can be unlocked (unmarried) and the number of unlocks can be reset by the company, but for a fee of course.

Sweet, thanks for the info. I managed a pretty nice deal on a used SCT3/X3, unmarried with 5 unlocks left on it. But the PO had a 5.0. I was concerned about being able to use it.

It's the actual custom tunes that won't work on just any Mustang or tuning device.

Well I should have one coming to me for 175 shipped. Unmarried, five unlocks left. Keeping fingers crossed that it'll work out.

If nothing else its gonna be nice to get the governor disabled and fix the annoy 4mph inaccuracy on my speedo (at 60).
