Bumper Plug Alternative

So I worked with a sticker/decal maker to get these cut. They are 1" circles with a polyeurethane dome that is appx 1/16" thick. I expect to have some pictures tomorrow morning of them installed. I decided on these after a few options didn't satisfy me, and wonder if any of yall would be interested as well? I may work with the business to have the 9 other colors printed if there is enough interest that I can recover the costs involved. No timeline yet for when testing for the other colors would be available, but I'm curious about sponsorship options for the site (these won't be a huge money maker, but I don't expect free advertising). I would need one volunteer for each color for testing purposes, checking the durability, etc. I would of course provide the first pair free.

Thoughts?

Did you try bumper plugs.com? They make a smaller size plug

Yeah. And $28 a set. These are flatter at 1/16" thick. They are also not plugs, but rather a vinyl decal with a clear dome over it. My dealer managed to put the screws in at an angle when they attached the front plate, so it would have required drilling the hole out larger. These simply covered everything.

If you have a white Mustang and are interested, send me a PM with your address and I'll send you a pair.

why have any type of dome at all? Wouldn't just 3M tape in the matching color be less obvious?

oh yeah, props for the offer AU

Hopefully, you have some type of legal claim to this idea...... it's an excellent idea.

Now that it's posted, various automotive after-market companies are already checking for suppliers.

Bumper Plug Alternative

Without the dome, even thick vinyl sinks into the hole left by the screws. Maybe y'alls aren't as mangled as mine was. The dome adds a depth to the decal that I think finishes the look.

And have you seen how inefficient automotive suppliers are? I can undercut them and sell them for cost for all I care, lol.

May look into filing a provisional patent. That would give me some time to see just how marketable the idea is.

I would do this but I'm so horrible with stickers. There would be little domes all over the place.

No but really I could never get them on straight or lined properly.

Did mine with some hole plugs I got from Home Depot for about $1.50 and some touch-up paint which I'm not counting since we should all have some of it around anyway lol. All I did was clean up the holes with a razor and painted the plugs. I did this on my 300, my wife's Cobalt and my old Mustang.

Dak, I tried this. But again, I wasn't keen on making the hole bigger since I would have had to drill out the ones there to fix the issue of it being installed crooked. And unless you have clear coat on the plug, it doesn't have the depth that the domed decal has. These honestly look like front parking sensors if you didn't know better.

Also, still waiting on volunteers with white cars.

Well, you're the second person to ask for black. I have already contacted the producer, just waiting to hear back, but the first couple sets in every color will be free until I get some non-biased feedback.

Also waiting to hear back from a moderator before I list anything in the classifieds as I don't want to be flagged as commercial. Yet...

These look better than the options you posted in a different thread, those were horrible looking. I think it was the plugs.

It's been discussed. You are clear to post a classifieds ad TO SELL...I would only ask that any and all "talk" about these are done with the PM function. When folks use a classifieds ad to discuss and chat about an item, it bumps the thread to the top, which is unfair to other classifieds.

If discussion is done, those posts will be deleted, users PM'd to halt the discussion and use PM's to discuss.

Discuss here on this tread. I'd even suggest you link this post in your classified ad (once posted) so that all discussions can be done here, and not on the classified ad itself.

Sent color samples today to the producer for black, race red, and grabber blue. I have had requests for the black and red, and would like a volunteer for the blue. As I said, these are free shipped for now.

Alright, these are being made today. Black, Race Red, Grabber Blue, and Ingot Silver. Everyone who has requested a set so far will receive them in appx 2 weeks (have to ship to me, then I ship out). I have not asked for money from anyone, as these will just ship in a stamped envelope and apparently at some point in my past I bought a book of forever stamps. Please provide any feedback in this thread and post some pics when you get them on!

Anyone who requested white has already had theirs shipped out.
