Expensive Seat Repairs

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for some help on power seat repairs.

I recently bought a 2011 Mustang V6 Premium w/ 39k miles. The car is in great shape except for the power seats. One of the three motors on the driver's seat doesn't work, and two of the three motors on the passenger seat don't work. A friend and I took the seats out and tested the switches and motors, it's definitely the motors.

I called a Ford dealer to get a quote on the parts, $780. Of course they don't just sell the motors, you have to buy the entire assembly on the bottom of the seat. Part #'s are 61711 and 61710.

Anyone have any experience with this before? Does anyone know a cheaper way to make this repair?

Replacing the seats themselves would be more. Only semi comparable option to me would be finding cheap cloth power seats and swap the cloth/leather take offs yourself if you want to save money.

Kevin, I don't need to replace the whole seat, just the assembly on the bottom with the power seat motors. I wouldn't want to replace seats anyway, they're a nice saddle-bag brown leather. I looked around on some other forums, it seems that mustangs going back to 2005 use the same seat racks, so an option is to go looking in salvage yards. Aftermarket makers don't sell them either, too specialized a part.

Sometimes you kind find old throw out seats parts on craigslist and stuff. You could also post on those kinds of played that you are looking for these parts and someone might contact you. Just be careful if you do that though.

It is possible that you might find an aftermarket motor that fits. Here's one on Amazon for $35. Amazon.com: Dorman 924-552 Power Seat Motor: Automotive
