Insurance Cost

I'm looking to buy a used 2011 mustang with around 50,000 miles. As a new driver how much would it cost to insure?

There are so many variables in that question. Age, gender, area you live in, sometimes even credit score.

You can go online to places like State Farm and Progressive and they'll give you a free quote after answering some questions.

A v6 will be less than a GT by far, but still more than say a Camry.

A new driver, full coverage with reasonable deductibles($500 or less) and liability limits($100k/$300k) will be around $200/mo in most cases.

I do insurance for a living, mostly claims, but I do get to look at premiums and such.

"New driver" as in a 16 year old kid? Then unless you're on your parents premium it's going to be astronomical.

It's not bad for me at 23, but it was when I had 2 tickets and no credit. 4 years later and good credit, it came down a lot. When I turn 25 it will go down even further, then marriage etc etc. But yeah, call your agent or compare companies.

All i can say is my personal experience. I'm 23 with a 5.0 and had 1 ticket on my record.
Progressive for about 8 months:
Started at $240 a month
Then it was $270
Then it was $310 and i finally got tired of paying that much.

Called around and looked at Geico, and now i pay $170 a month for more coverage and a lower deductible ($1000 vs $500) than i had with progressive. For the record, my GF (also 23) pays $160 each month for her 14 v6 with Geico as well. I wouldnt expect you'll be paying too much if you get it right

In my experience, Geico has been the best value for your money. They offer me the cheapest rates. I shop for insurance every time my 6 month policy is about to end and have yet to find anyone beating Geico.

(24 yrs old) Pay roughly $105/mo for my 14 v6. Full coverage, $500 deductibles.

I wouldn't pay more than 100 a month for a V6 Mustang....but I'm not in my 20's either.

Getting older does have it's privileges. I'm paying about 350 a month for two Mustangs, a Ridgeline, and a Lexus SUV.

As a new driver I'm glad to see the OP going used instead of new. That will help but the cost will still be pretty high.

Pay just over $100/mo for mine. $500 deductibles, full coverage. 28, no tickets, no wrecks, good credit, unmarried. However, there are some archaic laws that make insurance in Louisiana the most expensive in the country. If I was still in AL the same coverage would be about $60/mo for me.
