Mustang went spastic

Cold start, pulled out of my neighborhood like every other day, brakes started pumping like abs was engaged but I wasn't even on the brakes. Then I turned left at a light and my traction control started turning itself on and off like 10 times causing the car to shake. Car has 4k miles on it, v6 automatic 2014

Mustang went spastic

Mine did something similar, no abs action though. Just random traction control kicking on. I took it to the dealer, they looked for event codes, found nothing. Service manager was not surprised, says it happens every so often with newer Fords.

It hasn't happened again, I'm not too worried but I know it can happen so I can react if it ever happens at highway speed.

Mine is a '14 with about 7k now, I want to say it was like 5k when it happened.

Well considering I'm putting new gears and a lot of aftermarket parts on it, it has me worried

If you are concerned for warranty related stuff, hold off on your mods. My impression from the service manager dude, and I quite respect this dealer as they do all my mods for me, is this is a gremlin in the system. It can happen and it's not much to be concerned with. I would take it in and get it scanned for events and if nothing comes of it, call it a fluke and move on, just keep an eye on it.

If you are going to go with extensive mods, you need to factor in what repairs you could be out of pocket for if by chance they choose not to honor warranty work because of your mods.

I've made sure that non of my mods will void engine warranty, but am definitely concerned with the electronics, obviously something isn't right

Mines done this as well. Perfectly level and dry service, going straight around 30mph and the traction control started flashing and it felt like I had no control of my car. Wheels felt disconnected from the pavement and my brakes were digging in sort of as if I was on ice. Very weird.. Only lasted about 5 seconds but a little scary. Has happened twice in 13k miles.

Did the dealership say anything about it?

Do you have a traction control light come on when it kick in? Mine has cut power when I lose grip but I have never had a light come on.

It flashed on and off multiple times. Dry pavement, less than 30 mph and 2k rpms... Nothing makes sense... Going to see if I can catch it again on gopro

Didn't even bother taking it to the dealership. There's really no recreating that as its so random and I doubt my car would throw any codes because it's drives perfectly fine otherwise. Eh I just kind of wrote it off. Really don't want it to happen again lol

They said the exact same thing everyone else said, they couldn't find a code or anything wrong, but it's now documented before I put all my mods on so ford can't say my mods caused the problem

It occurred again. I think the abs box got hit in my wreck and wasn't replaced, taking it back tomorrow and having them replace, hopefully it does the trick

I'm positive it's something with the abs module but I think ford has a bigger problem on their hand that they aren't willing to fix

Its something to do with the fuse(most likely). I know there is a fuse that controls both abs and traction control. its a 5amp orange in the passenger side box. Not sure of the specific number though.

If it was a fuse it would do it everytime I turned the car on wouldn't it?... And I eliminated traction control as the problem, it's definitely just the abs

Mine did this 1x (and 1x that was a maybe) good luck but getting it to happen for them ain't easy. Good luck I remember one person on another forum had some type of flight data recorder on hers and ended up getting it repaired but it was a hassle and took lots of effort on her part.

So the ford dealership won't let me take the vehicle home until they've figured it out because they know if I get in a wreck due too the abs there will be a huge lawsuit, unfortunately I think it's something simple like a wheel speed sensor but they won't test anything until they can replicate it

Damn, that sucks. Does that mean someone from the dealership will be driving your car around until it happens? Putting miles on it, doing burn outs and other fun stuff to your car without you?

Matt,
a link to another forum with what I believe to be the best thread on this. You are not alone.....but realize how difficult intermittent problems can be to find then fix.

We should get a master thread going with:

Year
Miles
MT/AT
Mods
What were you doing when it happened?

This seems to be a pretty common thing and a large documented thread can help people when they go to the dealer for warranty work or to position to Ford for further investigation.
