Why Window Drops about 1/8" When Opening the Doors

Can anyone tell me why when I exit the vehicle, the window goes down about an eighth of an inch then when the door is closed, it goes back up. Thanks. Click image for larger version

No frame around the top of the window so it rolls up to create a better seal

what they said...the seal is part of the car frame NOT the door so the window drops to clear the seal.

It protects the seal at the top this way; by dropping down when door is opened, then re-seating after door is closed, you get a tight seal, and the rubber lasts longer.

BMW and Mercedes have been doing this for years. We get some "class" in our Mustangs!

Ever tried to close your door when you have your battery disconnected and the window just hits the frame because it does not roll down. Eh I hate that sound.

this is why you need to open the door/roll down window B4 you disconnect battery. I admit to lowering my windows 1/4" when storing for winter (unattached garage) just in case. I tend to leave my hood unlatched too.

It also allows the air to escape when the door is closed making it easier.
