Cold air intake questions/recommendations

I was trying to make my Christmas list for myself and was wondering a few things. I tried searching the forums but didn't find the answer I was looking for.

First I am interested in getting the airaid CAI for my 2013 V6-without tuning it(don't want to risk the warranty thing YET). I'm not that interested in HP gain but more sound. I was trying to search for sound clips to see what it would sound like with my set of axle backs.
I wasn't sure if anyone here has that CAI with just the Ford Racing Sport axle backs. I currently love the sound of them and wondering if this CAI would make it even better of worse.

Long story short. Is it worth it for just the sound. Do any of you recommend a different one. I want to gain a little deeper sound/more aggressive without it getting raspy at all? Or should I just stick with the stock.

Think that covers it all. Thanks in advance for the help everyone!!!

If all you have is mufflers, the Air raid will make it sound very nice. Raspy doesnt come in until you start messing with the mid pipes. The intake doesnt effect exhaust note much, if at all, it just seems to amplify engine noise.

Air raid requires a tune right, other wise it loses power

No, for the v6 air raid only makes 1 intake, which is no tune required, steeda is the only one that requires a tune.

Also, if you put a tune required intake on the car with no tune, you wont lose power, you'll run lean and blow up.

No, I had a friend running a air raid CAI on his 3.7 and was running 14.3s and then once he put it on he ran like 14.8s and stuff, so it does effect it with no tune.

well idle and Cruising AFR should be 14.7 anyways, so i'd be willing to bet your baseline data was flawed. That being said, plenty of people (myself included) have datalogged that intake and its all good. I'll even go measure the MAF diameter if you'd like.

I was going to say, if you have any datalogs we can compare the fuel trims when the air raid was installed. When we installed on my Girlfriends car we were well within spec so ... Take that for what its worth.

You can't really say for sure it was the intake. It could have been a bad install with loose connections. Also the ecu does have a slight relearning period after install, my car ran all sorts of goofy for about 250 miles after my install.

I will tell you I have had ZERO negative impact after my Roush(exact same as airaid) intake was installed. In fact I feel MORE pull in the low rpm(<2k) and have gained about 2mpg average. It's not a huge difference, some people maybe wouldn't notice, but I do 110 miles a day of commuting 5 days a week. If anything changes I'm pretty aware of it and have time to monitor it.

There might be some miscommunication here. I think Laquisha might have been saying 1/4-mile times, not AFRs. ?

Correct. 1/4 times. I'm just saying what I saw in person, that's all. I think it was even recommended on the sellers site (tune required).

OH haha thats my bad. I think there's too many variables at the track to say that it comes down to the intake. Slightly worse launch, worse DA, didnt shift as well, .5 seconds is not hard to lose in a 1/4. Did the mph change at all?

Can't remember to be honest, it was both the same track, same da, same weather ( all in the same week ) and its a auto. Not sure about the mph forgot tbh. But forsure it made it worse, in my opinion.

The airaid sounds amazing with axlebacks. Once I installed shorty headers, mid pipe, and throttle body along with it though the "whoosh" went away. My car is a heck of a lot faster now tho lol
