Cdc performance grille

Just got the cdc grille for my 2013 v6 and I love it! It was super easy to install. I took me about 20min with me popping out the oem grille and having to manually saw the middle brace out. The overall look is awesome and it completely changed the front look to a more aggressive styling. I HIGHLY recommend it for the price (under $200).

There's actually a thin aluminum shield which looks like it protects the actual radiator. When I removed the oem grille there were leaves, bugs, etc... on the front shield already, I just did a quick wipe down and cleaned it before I used the high heat primer to black out the front shield.

Also, I've been driving with it for almost 3 days and so far so good. Hope that helped answering your question. I say go for it! You'll love it!

Ok, excuse my first comment. That "shield" actually is the radiator. However, there still has not been any problems with the Cdc grille. I've been on the highway as well as local streets and still have not had any problems.

I've had my CDC on for about six months. No problems at all. I was lucky and found a used one in perfect shape for $80.

^Lol

Quack: more than likely stuff will get in there. Like rocks hitting the radiator etc; I've heard a funny story once from someone that has this grille. Nevertheless one can go to home depot and buy a mesh to put on the opening(s). There's a company that makes a custom mesh that fits on the grille (can't remember who.)

Looks great. I've had mine since August 2012 and about 30,000 miles with lots of highway driving. Haven't had any issues at all.

I agree, looks very good. I've had mine on for about a year and haven't had any problems either.

There is a company that makes custom mesh inserts for these and Cobra's - I can't remember the name but it would keep stuff out of that huge mouth of a grill.

BTW is that the RTR front lip? Your setup is really awesome looking.

I assume you are asking about mine - and yes it is the CDC RTR lip. I had it painted body color and left the lip black after an orange cone fell off the truck in front of me at 75 MPH and took out the original RTR.

Yes that's it! I had it saved to my work shortcuts... I talked to the guys there and they say it fits the CDC perfectly and we might even be able to just get the top one.

I really like the look and the open concept of this grille. I just wish there was a grille similar for the lower. Also i just tried to remove my lower and those are a ***** to remove...saw a video for the 2013-14 ( I have a 12) and you have to get underneath and remove the splash guard and all sorts of ****. PITA lol

Roush has or had one for the lower that was open. I almost got it when I had to replace everything after the orange cone encounter, but decided to go with the other Roush lower instead.

Just checked the Roush site and they still have the open lower. It lines up to the CDC Performance Grille pretty well as I recall.

Oh nice! Ya that looks sweet and give you more air flow for better cooling....just gotta wonder if being that low it will get more debris than the Upper.

Both of the Roush options require cutting. The one I have is a lot more open than the stock one, but not as open as the high flow one.

This is the stock upper and lower - both are blocked in several places on the back:

Before the "orange traffic cone" incident I had the stock lower, but painted it black
Before painting:

After painting:

After the incident, Carl at Carl's Custom Concepts painted the new RTR chin and added the Roush lower for more air flow and a cleaner look:

After the orange cone took out the chin and lower grille - you can see how blocked things are:

And this is the backside of the stock upper grille:

Aside from taking everything around it apart, the cutting was tedious and took a while. And inserting/attaching the metal plate underneath it was difficult and I had hardware fitment issues. In the end I wound up not using all of the hardware and sort of rigging it to make it work. Took me about 4-5 hours to do it. I love the look, but if I had to go back and do it again I'd probably just get a different grille.

I have the honeycomb looking one. I'm thinking i may just cut it out and call it a day. The Roush one is just a bordering piece to cover up the tabs that surround the opening.

Love the look and am considering buying that grille, 2 concerns though. First can you explain the installation process especially the part about cutting. Second do you think that I will be able to revert back to the stock grille, or is the a permanent mod?

Grille was a b**** to get out originally, and since I don't have fogs there were 3 plastic bars I had to saw in order for the grille to go in, but after that it popped straight in, went to autozone and bought some high temp spray paint and did the radiator easy. Only took about 2 hours including finding a saw and getting the paint. Completely recommend, makes the car look mean as hell!

Did you have to remove the bumper? The sawing part scares me do you think you can revert back to stock after making the cuts?

You don't have to remove the bumper. It's a really easy install except getting the stock grille out. It was incredibly frustrating but I eventually got it.

Is there not a proper way of removing the grille? Or do you pull the crap out of it until it comes out?
