Void warranty?

As soon as I hook up a programmer to my vehicle do I kill all engine warranty?

Very possible but not 100%. Depends on what is wrong with your car. If the car window stops working because of a bad motor, that's not the tunes fault. The tune has to be the cause of the part that failed in order to have the warranty voided. In theory anyway. Lol

But you could always revert to the stock program right? Or does the big blue oval have a way of finding out if the computers been messed with?

OP, if keeping warranty through Ford is a high priority but really want a tune, go with Steeda then. I only say this based on a must need to keeping warranty coverage. Since Steeda tunes certain Ford specialty vehicles, Steeda would have the best chance getting your issue taken care of under warranty.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying Steeda is the best tune option out there but a very solid chose especially if warranty coverage is a main top priority.

OP this also LARGELY depends on the Ford dealership you take it to. I have one down the road from me that will flat out say "once you tune you are done" with your ecu warranty. Yet another dealership in the next city which has an ON SITE ford racing division will tell you "it depends on what you change and which tuner you use. The only TRULY safe tuner is Ford Procal. If you are like me and get the bumper to bumper ford ESPs I would look into that or just leave it be.

If you are worried about the warranty don't mod the car.

I've already changed driveshaft and complete suspension but I want to change to 3.73 gears and have them sitting here, but the only way I can correct shift points is with a tune. Ford said they couldn't correct it the only way I could is with an aftermarket tune, but I'm worried about losing the 60k mile engine warranty

Your only real options are:

1. Put the gears in and tune the car.
2. Don't put them in, and save your warranty.

You need to decide which one you want more.

I was looking at the procal tuner, but they only offer it for the gt for 2014. Have you found one for the v6?

Nope, not an option for the 3.7. Only 5.0 models.

Your only real option is 3.31 gears if your car does not have it. Once they are in, any dealership can update your ECU, because it comes programmed with them as an option due to the pony package coming with them. Mine did NOT come with them; but I added them. My local ford dealership installed them and adjusted my ECU. Used Ford racing gears. Talk to your local dealership. Make sure the one you talk to deals with ford racing. Mine has a ford racing department. They upgrade GT gears and whatnot daily. Just not the v6.

OP Honestly if you are doing that many mods to your V6 save some money for a bit longer and upgrade to the GT.

3.31s come with the Performance Package, not the Pony Package, just for clarification.

I've got a motorcycle and way to many tickets, I barely got covered for the v6, and being 21 doesn't help. Gt is out of the question

Haha, my mom bet me one car payment I couldn't go a year without a ticket. Last ticket I got was 8 years ago and I was singled out of the middle of a pack of 5 cars. I don't know what some of you guys pay for insurance, mine doubled going to this thing from a Chevy SUV, and that's with good credit, no tickets (7 year window), no wrecks, over 25, etc, basically every positive thing you can have on your insurance besides being married (frankly I think it's a more responsible decision to be single, but that's a different arguement).

Void warranty?

I had a 10k wreck on my record, another wreck with no damage on the bike, and 3 speeding tickets. It's like $140 a month for full coverage. If I could have gotten insured for the gt I would have bought one. But since I couldn't I'm just trying to make the best out of the v6

I'm 25 and pay 133 a month for my 12 5.0 and my wife's 13 explorer.

When I was 18 and first got my 03 cobra I was paying 414 or something. It was over $400

I am going to get flamed for saying this on Mustang forums; but if insurance is your issue than look at swapping for an SS Camaro (v8) its cheaper on insurance than the v6 Mustang. No this is not a joke. It really is. If I changed to it my insurance goes down by 115$ over 6mo =O

Almost did it at one point. lol

My uncle owns a Chevy dealership and has stated that I can get a new ss camaro with around 5000 miles on it for 24k. However I absolutely hate the car. The interior sucks, and the lines just aren't there for me.... Also it has horrible visibility...

Haha, I have a buddy at work with a '12 Camaro RS and he hates it as well. Worse, he still owes more on it than I do on my '13 Mustang. He got it because all his frat brothers were getting Camaros and it was the cool car to have when he graduated.

They have the worst resale value of any car I've seen, the market for them has fallen through, and they just aren't that desirable

Hense why I hope to meet someone who owns a Ford dealership in Orlando FL. Nothing would make me happier than to swap my 6er for an 8

Some of you guys seem to pay a ton for insurance. I pay $160 full coverage on 3 cars... 14v6 13lincoln mkx and 13kia optima turbo.

I'd buy a Honda civic from 1989 if I ever was to pay 400+ on 1 car.

The rates can vary depending on ones location, ones driving record, ones age and ones coverage amounts and renters insurance if someone has. I know for fact when I lived in Philadelphia my car insurance was higher than living in a subrub of Philly. It really depends
