2014 V6 rough shifting

I have a 2014 V6 Mustang. 6 speed manual with Barton short throw and bracket installed.

Factory shifter was giving me problems with 1st and 3rd gear, the problem still remains with the Barton bracket and short shifter.

1st gear is very difficult to engage at a complete stop, almost like it is not wanting to go into gear. On occasion when shifting from 2nd to 3rd, the shifter bangs into 3rd gear which makes a loud popping noise.

I'm going to address these issues with my Ford service dept. soon, just wanted to see if anyone had any similar issues, and if they had any fixes.

I have driven lots of manual cars before, so I have a lot of experience. I can't seem to find a pattern at all when these issues happen.

Thanks for any additional help.

How many miles? Maybe the clutch and flywheel need inspected.

8,500 miles. Is it possible that the flywheel could be faulty from factory?

Did you do the install yourself or got it installed from a pro shop? Double check the bracket and see if its tight.

Ford authorized dealer did the install. I'm going to try to get the mechanic to ride with me so he can hopefully notice the issues.

Not normally. The clutch and flywheel should last a while. But it wouldnt hurt to get everything looked at if your dealer cannot locate the problem.

So I brought my car into the dealership. They drained the transmission fluid, then put new transmission fluid in with an anti-friction additive. This was a solution for a rough shifting recall not long ago on the MT-82.

All rough shifting issues are resolved.

2014 and they're still experimenting with different fluids.

Its because they have to try to use a "one size fits all" fluid for cars all over the country. Being in Houston i run an oil that really does favor hotter temps; but that being said, it really is struggling in the winter months until it gets warm, it just is what it is. There's no such thing as a one size fits all lol, but with summer lasting 3/4 of the year here, you just have to pick what works the best most of the time, instead of just ok all of the time.

Do you know what transmission fluid they used in addition to the anti-friction additive? I have been having similar problems with my 2013 v6 and have been trying to determine if there is a suitable replacement fluid. I've been thinking about using Royal Purple's recommended HPS 10w-40...has anyone used this in their MT-82?

The dealership put the same type of transmission fluid back in that came with the car from factory along with the additive. When they first drained my transmission fluid, they said it looked darker than normal for a car with only 8,000 miles on it. I would recommend putting the same type of fluid back in that came stock with the car, along with the additive. Then I would inquire about a different type of fluid if that doesn't resolve the issue.
