Mustang V6 vs BMW 335i

Bmw 335i is stock, fully loaded, looking to put this rich kid in his place on the 1/8 mile. Can I beat it with the mods in my signature?

Rocker stripes may be enough to put you in the lead.

On a serious note, looks ok. What kind of wheels/suspension you got? All stock with 17s?

That Beamer should run mid 13's stock 1/4 mile. Your matte black rocker stripes will give you the edge!

But seriously, I don't think you will win with stock gears.

Depends, but probably not. There's a lot of different engine, turbo, and transmission options over the years, but almost all of them are faster than a 3.7L mustang, especially one that still has the 2.73s.

Most I see are doing mid to low 13s stock, and his torque should murder you off the line, especially if its an auto.

All stock wheels/suspension, I would be running a 91R bama tune. Shorty headers+Lethal H pipe are small possibilities for this race, depending on how soon it is.

Still no, not as long as you're on a 2.73.

Yea if you got stock wheels and stuff I assume you do not have the Performance Package with 19s and 3.31s.

Wish Gears could be a mod you could get done before you race him. Gears, Tune, CAI, and Headers may give you a slight chance of beating them.

My possible improv is getting gears instead of headers and mid pipe since they're around the same price, I wouldn't go higher than 3.55 as I have a terribly long commute everyday.

For something like this, 3.55s should be fine. I think even some stock GTs have this gear ratio so you should be ok. And since it is your Daily driver, you don't wanna turn it into a track car.

Just try not to do a ton of these races. Because if you do, plan on getting an aluminum driveshaft. Especially if you are putting a tune and gears on it.

HAHAHA! There is a kid with the same setup at my school! If you get gears(3.73) and a tune you will have a chance at a 1/4! It would be a close race. You can run 13.6-8 with that setup. BUT he can run around 13.4 1/4 and he will have the turbo advantage Ill race my friend this weekend and see what happens. He has a tune which allows him to run 400hp to the wheels. So he can take that off.

How bad do you think it will be with mpg? I am a slightly aggressive driver. Not a grandma and not a lead foot.

Me either I install my 3.73s thursday. I'll know for sure then. I think you will get 1-2mpgs less. I lost 1 with straight pipe as well so I'll be around 17.5 to high 18s.

With some good 3.73s and a good tune with 91 in the tank, a new 3.7 would get the bmw off the line, but I cant say how long you could hold the lead though. This is exactly why I ordered a procharger. I got tired of getting destroyed by STI's and M3's with rich kids in the driver seat.

The 335i twin turbos spool very quickly. The one I test drove was a beast. Had it not been for the German car curse, I'd be in that most likely. Haha

Sorry but you are probably going to lose this race. Your gears are gonna kill you and his torque will help kill you.

With a $800 tune my friends got 400 at the wheels and if he's feeling good he mixes e85 in there for more of a boost.. Procharger will Give you about 407hp to the wheels on 5psi. Idk what it takes to get more out of the procharger. That little 3.0tt is a beast.. Sucks! And their car in my area is like the same price or cheaper.

They're the same or cheaper maybe if you're looking at a 2009-10 model, but brand new, no way you're getting one for the same price as a Mustang, at least not a V6.

Looking pretty dismal, I'll hold off on challenging him then. Thanks for keeping me from making a fool of myself guys.

If it counts for anything, you could also reduce your weight by a couple pounds by removing the back seats and all the bs that goes along with it as well as your passenger seat, atleast for the race...

straight pipe err and you will lose like 60pounds it seems like. Those stock mufflers are heavy! You get sound and wheight reduction. "The best of both worlds"

BMW for the win if you had a GT you could stand a better shot but the M3 and GT have been battling for a few years now. A BMW comes from the factory to win as a V6 comes from the factory as a cheap commuter car. I'm not trying to bash on V6 owners, but I do shake my head in wonder sometimes, and yes the modern V6 puts more horses out than previous GT/LX cars.

This is why I laugh at V6 Mustangs I had a friend in a early 90's Corolla beat a NS95 in auto tech, we street raced on class breaks kept the idiots in check with their "super car" complex, in college both automatics Corolla had two passengers to boot the driver and me.

If your gonna race always know cubic inches can't beat cubic inches there is no replacement for dispacement. Also luxury cars being heavier with leather, wood trim, ect won't always be slower....
