gearing

I have a 2011 v6 mustang with a bbk throttle body and cold air intake. I also just ordered a tuner and its on its way. I am looking at the 3.73 gearing and saw that ford racing ones often have more whine that the motive ones.

Which gears would yall prefer/reccomend for performance and durability.
Thanks!

When I get mine, for me it's only Ford Racing.

don't really know about motive being that I've never ran their gears but I've got about 15k on my Ford racing 3.73 gears and no whine!

Motive are crap. Get Ford a racing and have a reputable shop install it with the proper fluids. Done.

Go ford racing and skip on motive. I had motive 3.73 in my 98 stang and they whined bad. Never any issues from ford racing.

I think its just the cut of the 3.73 gear in general that causes it to just whine more than others. Even some people with stock cars have whine from their 3.73s, and My Fiance had whine from her ford racing 3.73s installed on her last car.

gotta remember, the steeper the gear, the more likely it is you'll end up hearing SOMETHING. at the very least.

^^ I'll believe that. I mentioned the 3.73s above, but the 3.55s in her current car even have a little noise, and that was just a 100% axle swap, not a gear install. Its more of a slight hum than a whine, but still seems reasonable.

I thought there was supposed to be no whine if the installer gets it right, about to get mine 3.73's installed and I was just curious

Well I have 4.10 FRPP's and have put 4k on them and haven't experienced any sort of noise that could be out of the ordinary. I went through my break in cycles as my installer instructed and changed out the fluid on the dot as well.

I think you'll be good with FRPP as long as you have a tech that knows what he's doing. I went to a shop that only does differential work.
