Nail on the head. 1973 was when they knocked off all the horse power. In the mid 70 all the way through the 80s there were no high horse power cars. Back then even the vettes were only good for 225 HP.

The video was not long enough

1973 was the end of Muscle car production -BUT___

It turned out that you could pick up GTO's and Hemi-Cuda's 428 Torino Cobra Jets and many other fine Muscle cars on the used car lots pretty cheap. It was the end of the double digit per gallon of gas and the beginning of the triple digit cost. The Phony Government gas shortage was the start of Americas slide downhill as far as a lot of industry's moved out to foreign soil. We lost half of our factories from 73 to now.
