Ford Sync Expiring

My Ford Sync subscription is expiring. I thought all I needed to do was log into the website and renew for free, but it looks like it's $60. What would I be losing by not renewing? I'm sure I wouldn't be able to have destinations sent to the car for traveling, which isn't a big deal because I have a separate GPS, but what other things can you think of I will be giving up?

Expired ???????? DUH !!!!!!!

I just looked and I do not see anything at all in any of my paperwork or window sticker that say's my Sync will ever expire.
Mine is a 2012 MCA Premium coupe.
In my book on inside cover page it has # 3 instructions to Activate your free services. There is nothing in this book that say's it will expire.
I bought my Mustang in 2011 when the 2012's just came out.
On my Window sticker it just say's" sync voice activated system" under the : standard equipment at NO EXTRA CHARGE

Its "sync service" that will have an annual fee. Your every day sync will continue to work, its the features in the link that will not, like weather, traffic updates voice navigation that non navigation cars have. Its in the link I posted if you take 90 seconds to read it. For Additional info click the "terms and conditions" at the bottom of the link.

Ronnie

I chatted online this evening with the Ford Sync people. They looked up my account and said that I had a complimentary 36 month subscription, so it is running out 2/7. My car is a 2012. I wonder if your's may run out soon.

I really won't be missing anything I already use by not renewing it, other than the occasional Destination feature once in a while, but I really don't need that since even if I don't have my GPS with me, I always have my iPhone. The health report feature even still works. Since the car is parked 6 months out of the year, I will just wait until Spring and see if I really miss anything. If so, I can still renew it then for the same price.

Geez, settle down. Besides, the link you sent really didn't answer the question. Contacting the Sync people and having them look up my account is what gave me the answer specific to my account. Guess I should have done that first instead of asking people out here.

Ronnie, I know you were just trying to be helpful. Thank you. Maybe you should log into the website and see if your's will be expiring this year.

Its stuff like this this that really grinds my gears. In your post you asked what other stuff would you be losing and I posted a link for you to help you out and give you an idea. At the bottom of the link there is a terms and conditions that I even said to click for more info where it specifies that some cars come with a 1-3 year subscription, in your case 3, only to be followed up by a "geez settle down post" good luck bro. Sorry to be of any help, all the info is there for anyone who wishes to take a couple of minutes to read. I don't really appreciate getting **** on by trying to help someone out....

Be nice now

I logged on to the sync my ride site and it did not tell me if mine has or is going to expire. I don't use it anyway and it might be expired already.
I have a Garmin 55 that gives me traffic and construction delays, tells me how fast I.m going. Tells me where to go. When I'll get there.
It does everything except "Rub my FEET"

Fast Ford, You do always have great information and are very helpful, But you just gotta start relaxing and giving us stupid people a little slack. It's not our fought you live where you do and are snowbound for the winter freezing you buns off. What he said was true, It does not tell you if or when your feature will expire. It does tell you what won't work anymore. It was good advice sending the link. As long as what I do use still works, I;ll be happy.

Now, Cheer up and it will be Spring soon and you will be a happy guy again. Ha! Ha!

Ronnie, are you no way stupid, and yes it is very cold here lol. I was just simply trying to help him with his question by posting a couple of links that would provided him with the services he'd be losing, nowhere does he ask when his subscription expires, just that he had to renew it and it wanted to charge him 60$.

Its really not a long read that completely explains the service and subscription fees. Not sure why you both took offence to the "just read 90 seconds"? Np though, I"ll remember the people not to help in the future and browse right by their threads, not worth the headaches. Thumbs.

Sync is a horrible feature. I'm always fighting with it. Truth be told Microsoft is constantly doing software updates to most of their software heavy products. This is one that does not receive attention. Please if I am wrong someone tell me. I would pay, reasonably priced, for a software upgrade. But first I'd want to know what S/W version I'm running and what the latest update would gain me. I haven't found any information on the Web, but that doesn't mean it's not out there.

If Apple and Ford had gone to bed on this project, I believe that there would have been a better product.

This is only my opinion based on my personal experience, which of course does not represent all the Sync users, only one--me.

Ford is about to dump Microsoft and Sync for a different open source system from Blackberry which is already being used by other makers. I would not be paying for anything Sync.

I signed up for a free 6mo trial when I got my car. I used the Sync services exactly one time to set up a road trip home (even though I know the way I wanted to see how Microsoft thought I should drive it). It tried to take me thru downtown Baton Rouge at 5pm versus a much quicker route I know, so I doubt the traffic info was up to date. When I decided I didn't want to use it the rest of the 6hr drive I tried to turn it off, but you have to be stopped to make any changes.

I won't be renewing when it comes time. It just doesn't do anything my phone can't do faster, better, and easier.

All you have to do is hit the sync button and say "cancel route" and it will turn off the directions. You don't have to stop to make that change.
