I have been running BAMA since I got the tuner and have been very happy. That said I just ordered first MPT to test them out. To be honest the BAMA is great and the fact that you can always get new tunes when you upgrade is great. I would get the tuner and tunes from BAMA. The tunes for life is worth it. Then if you want spend the $70 like me for a MPT to test them out. OR... wait a week I will tell you what I think of the two different lol

If you buy the tuner from MPT you get free tunes for like 6months or so. They are better but it sucks they dont offer a lifetime free tuning option when buying a tuner from them.

Only costs $20 after the first 6 months for major tune changes. They typically will very often tweak something very minor for nothing. Excellent customer service and tunes

OK, you're not the first person to say that, but basically just google that thread title followed by: Mustangevolution and it should take you there. Its a very comprehensive thread. Seems there may be a slight linking glitch somewhere.

I honestly don't think you can go wrong, Billy. There is a ton of great tuning companies out there. However, let me give you a little bit more detail on what Bama offers!

First things first, we would love to have your business and friendship. That's very important to us and we love to create a friendly and informing relationship that will gain your trust in doing business with us.

When getting your X4 tuning device, you can absolutely use your 6% forums discount that will save you a few bucks. After the order is processed we will shoot you an email requesting all of the modifications to your Mustang. The Bama team will then get to work writing your tunes! They will take into account all of your mods, any comments you left and what octane level you'd like to run.

The Bama team will then load the tunes to your device, box it back up with everything you need and ship it out! When it arrive all you'll need to do is plug and play.

Bama Performance tunes will deliver more than just "power". They focus on power, torque, acceleration, drive-ability, gas mileage, throttle response and much much more when writing their custom tunes. This will allow Bama to write you a completely custom tune from the ground up that is built to your driving style!

Bama Tuning Specialist are also in the office all the time and are happy to help! Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

I hope this helps with your decision. Please let me know if I can shed some light on anything else!

PS - It also helps that Bama became the first 2011+ V6 into the 11's! They definitely have these cars figured out. Check it out!

-Dan

Bama is currently in the process of reworking all of their tunes (GTs just got the V2 tunes they're now marketing). V6s will apparently get reworked soon as well. This could be good and bad. Good > better tunes. Bad > there may be glitches that will be worked out over time.

I think for the most part, MPT will be the better experience. It's a small, dedicated team of guys who have been in the field for a long time. Customer service is top notch, you get emails from the lead tuners themselves. Very friendly people.

Its not tunes for life, but like others have said $20 for a new revision after 6 months. Not a bad deal at all.

I have tunes by Bama/Steeda/MPT

Read what I just posted in another thread. It may contain some news for you.

Quote:
I'm really curious about this V2 Bama tune. Paul Meister has been Bama's new lead calibrator since last summer I believe and I've been keeping an eye on Bama since he's arrived.

Paul has a pretty decent background and has definitely improved Bama by a long shot since he started working there. I just got settled into my new MPT tune and have been loving it, but once it gets stale I may give Bama another shot.

BAMA Chips was once a great tuning company I heard (back in 2011 or so). I'm interested in seeing if they can make a comeback.

Yes I read that before I replied. All I know is that Bama appears to have more complaints than any other tuner on most of the forums. No putting Bama down, just going by what I've read

Hey Mustang,

I'm sorry that you've seen some complaints about Bama floating around, we definitely do our best to get to them the moment we see them and always do whatever we possibly can to make things right.

The reason you are seeing more complaints is honestly based off of volume.
Bama Performance tunes way more Mustangs than anybody else in the scene.
We've been working very hard with the Bama team to eliminate as many of these as possible, but they are only human and when you tune thousands of Mustangs things do come up however 99.9% of the time they are simple fixes and the Bama team works quickly with the customer to iron these out.

We are available almost 24/7 to anyone with a concern and always go above and beyond to make sure the customer is smiling again.

Are you currently tuned? If you are and or if you already have a handheld tuner, I would be willing to enroll you into Bamas Free Tunes For Life program at no cost to you and get you tuned. All I would like in return is your honest feedback.

We are always willing to help and we are always willing to make sure our customers are happy.

If anyone has any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out.

I think a good amount of complaints are before Paul came along, seems like he is getting their crap together.

I went with Bama because they are backed by AM. Also, honesty goes a long way for me and AM is always willing to work with Bama to get the issue resolved. As you can even see in this forum, their employees are always listening for feedback so they can fix things.

It is one thing to hear feedback and not do anything. But its very nice to know they pay attention to their customers instead of everyone having a dollar sign next to their name.

Now that being said, I am hoping Bama gets my custom tune made that I submitted a couple of days ago

Same reason I bought my gt because everyone kept saying they weren't no good and ford didnt make good cars .....lets just hope they dont blow my engine with there tunes lol

Will;

I think it's great that Bama has turned things around per American Muscles customer support. I'm happy with my MPT tune right out of the gate and, simply put, MPT offered me a better deal over the Christmas holiday I couldn't pass up. 90% of my purchases over the last year and a half have been with AM. AM just wasn't giving any breaks on the SCT tuners at the time, but it's all good. Heck, my biggest purchase to date, my Borla Stingers, were from AM. Keep up the good work and catch ya on the next one

I went from a fully revised tune from steeda back when Gus was still there to MPT. It's wasn't even close, my dialed in mpt tune is way better. Bama is a great tune if you just want something better than stock, but if you want the most from your 3.7 MPT really is the only choice.

To be clear ... there are more powerful tunes out there than Steeda's tune ... we are focused on the combination of safety, reliability with a nice increase in power!

We have some great tuners within our system that have picked up the tuning responsibilities ... if you are looking for a tune that won't cause issues ... then look no further than Steeda. Our track record speaks for itself.

Best of luck!

TJ

Hey Nate,

Paul is an absolutely amazing tuner and he is continuously raising the bar for Bama.

Paul had my car (2014 GT) on the dyno for some tweaks and testing and when he was done it was like a completely different vehicle.

I went to the track the next day and went 11.9 with a horrible 1.9 60' and then drove home in stop and go traffic with no issues.

I recommend Bama to all of my friends, family, and customers alike.

It is one thing to hear feedback and not do anything. But its very nice to know they pay attention to their customers instead of everyone having a dollar sign next to their name.

Now that being said, I am hoping Bama gets my custom tune made that I submitted a couple of days ago

Looks like you're one of the lucky ones Nate!

Bama is definitely quick but it does vary depending on volume.

AM just wasn't giving any breaks on the SCT tuners at the time, but it's all good. Heck, my biggest purchase to date, my Borla Stingers, were from AM. Keep up the good work and catch ya on the next one

Hey Mustang,

I completely understand! Why fix what isn't broken?

We do appreciate the business and support and feel free to reach out if you ever need anything!

Wanted to say I have had my MPT tune in for a couple days now and in reality I dont notice any difference from the BAMA one. I had the same set up and tried both out. Most people load each and try but tunes take 30-50 miles to even really calibrate properly. I basically ignored the entire first day of each for that reason. I really do not notice a difference at all. may be one on a Dyno but driving it around as my DD in a spirited way i just dont notice it.

I will say that both are quieter that my previous tune regarding the exhaust. I am assuming that is due to the Boss intake and 85mm BBK throttle body I added. I have a thread link below about that. If anyone has info on that I would apreciate just knowing it is a usual thing.

Boss intake question

I have Bama and MPT tunes and both companies are great. I have been running Bama tunes for around 4 years now and never a days issue with them. I have their old hybrid tune and think its fantastic. Bama and AM are top notch and so is MPT.

I have not tried Bama's new tunes but feel nothing is wrong with their old hybrid tune I have. 😎

The X4 is great. Easy to use and install is a piece of cake. Can't go wrong.
