TPMS sensors?

Can I take off my stock sensors and install them on my new set of wheels?

Yes. My tire shop did. I went from '17s to GT '19s. The shop was able to use them on my GT rims. I don't know what they had to do to reset them but they did it!

Then I had MPT rewrite a couple of tunes for me because my speedo was off by like 3MPGs.

Most places will charge an extra 5.00 per sensor for a rebuild kit.

Great! Well I plan on reusing them if I buy a used set of wheels or a new set from American muscle. That saves me money overall.

if you are selling your old rims/tires the loss of tpms will affect the selling price.

You don't have to buy the rebuild kit. It's just a way for the shop to make a little extra and sometimes they don't even put them on.

I saw some 20" Black AMR wheel kit for $1,300. Which isn't bad at all. That's why I was asking about the TPMS sensors. If I could reuse them.

AM will install new ones for an extra 100 bucks. You figure a shop might charge 40-50 bucks to put your tires on...If you get them already installed on the rims with the tires you can just put them on yourself. The 14 stangs at least have an auto learn function for the TPMS. I thought I was going to have to bring it in for the relearn but the car automatically identified them and the light never came on. Then if you you sell your other rims you can charge a premium since the come with TPMS sensors and recoup the other $60.

*Edit*
Before people comment saying something might be "wrong" with them, I change back and forth between the AMR's and stock depending on the season and not once have I ever needed to do anything with the TPMS. I know they work as well since it came one when I got a flat tire 3 weeks ago.

They charge $200 for a new set. I rather just change my tpms from my stock wheels to the new wheels.

I switch between summer and winter wheels. The winter wheels were take-offs with TPMS sensors. I've had them for 3 winters now, but for some reason this winter I got a TPMS error and had to get the tool to do the relearn.

The tool can be had for under $40 bucks, so if you do a lot of wheel swaps, I'd recommend keeping one in your glovebox.

Hey Lambo,

As long as a quality shop is doing the work, you should have no problem swapping the sensors from the stock wheels into your new wheels.

Saving money is always good!

What wheels are you going with?

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions!

TPMS sensors?

Thank you will and the 20" black AMR rims with nitto tires! For $1,300 isn't bad at all, but I'm still debating on those or a staggered set of the SVTPP wheels from a 2014 for $1,500. I don't know yet. I haven't decided yet.

Sounds good Lambo,

I love the Amr's myself.

You can't beat them if you are looking for a reasonably priced wheel that looks great and comes with a lifetime warranty!

Check out the video on them, it really explains a lot:

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions!
