Thoughts on this exhaust combo

So I just ordered a BBK off-road x pipe no cats. It will bolt to stock manifold and then I will bolt my roush ABs. Any body have that combination?

That has the potential to sound like a loud pile of poo lol. Get us a nice clip when you have it installed! The roush by themselves are already really raspy loud on the 3.7. O/r x is going to drone like crazy i believe.

It will be raspy as hell!! If you plan on keeping the X pipe, look into the Borla S Type or even the Touring. With that pipe you want a tame axle back.

+1 on touring. I think the S Type would still be too loud for it. I believe there's a video on YouTube of a v6 with the s type and a bbk x pipe. (I can't remember if it's CATTEd or o/r)

Am starting to regret my purchase... I would hate to go through all the work of putting it on and then hating the sound... This is a tough one

It's the only reason I never looked at an x pipe for mine. I love my s type too much to put an x to them lol

There is a few videos around youtube of guys with x pipe and roush that talk it down, especially as a dd due to drone and sheer volume, but to each his own. I believe there is a consensus even from 5.0 guys that roush should not go with offroad mid pipes.

I dont think you'll like it. this would probably be ok for a GT, not so much for the 3.7. Just for the record I dont have a problem with the Roush, by itself. This setup will be loud and raspy for sure.

Since it sounds like you're somewhat committed to remove your cats and you haven't removed your OEM axle backs yet, you could always leave the OEM mufflers on when you install the O/R Xpipe. This will allow you to hear that setup first then with minimal effort you could switch over to the Roush mufflers.
That way you get to hear two set ups when and if you install the roush.
Just a thought.

Uncatted the 3.7 sounds like a high revving john deere. I'd look at keeping the cats or be ready to put some hefty resonators in.

3.7+off road x=poop.
Op, I'd put the stockers on and sell the Roush if your set on keeping that pipe. Like others have said your going to be very limited to Axel backs.

Great idea. See if you like it with the stocks...if not you'll hate the Roush's.

I have decided am going to go ahead and do it.. lol. We r doing the install on Tuesday I'll post a video sometime that night. If it's too much I'll just revert back to stock and be out $200. I am hoping that when am just cruising (45mph) and barley on the gas my car won't be making much noise (like it does now) but when I want to get on it and roar it. The pipe is there to make it happen.. Btw am a senior in high school, am not a married guy with kids that has an obnoxious sounding 3.7... I think it will turn some heads in the parking lot!

This makes sense now. No offense but stupid loud exhaust is definitely a young person thing. My son has a friend with a Charger SRT8. Its a bad *** car but its so loud, and he loves it. Hes also a cop magnet where we live...

Remember its your car, do as you like. We could all be wrong, you might hook it up and love it. Good luck and have fun!!

Well ok maybe I was making a blanket statement. Lets face it the guys youre talking about in their 60's and 70's are the exception. Most people as they get older that kind of stuff changes. I have a lot of "car" friends my age, some older and some a little younger, not one of them has an exhaust so loud it will get them tickets. When I was in high school and into my early to late 20's I loved a loud exhaust, now not so much. Its like music, I love loud music, not the kind that rattles your teeth out, but music that is loud and clear. Same with exhaust, you can get a great tone without having to run straight pipe. Im super happy with mine and its not obnoxiously loud at all.

Thoughts on this exhaust combo

To date I've never heard a good sounding straight pipe car/truck... The closest was a 69 Camaro z/28 RS with just an x pipe, sounded very good, and drag car loud...
Not trying to dis on anyone's car. Straight pipe has never sounded good to me on any car/truck.

Good sound

Quick vids, but still sounds pretty good. If you like it that's all that should matter. I have Roush AB's and I just ordered LT headers and a MAC Pro Chamber Mid pipe. So far I love the Roush abs, well see how loud mine ends up getting....

I hear its going to be nasty loud, but I keep getting mixed views on the raspy part. I saw a vid on youtube with the BBK LT headers and the O/R x pipe with the roush abs and it wasn't too bad. Im just not sure what the prochamber sound will give me though...

With all this, would just be cheaper to remove the mufflers completely for a similar sound. Lol! Jk

Dude it's going to be crazy loud! Idle and below 2k are great! Then if you floor it about 4th its screaming and pulling harder than ever. Nice performance gain

Is a black 3.7? That's the one that stopped me from LTS and x pipe. I was just about to pull the trigger but decided to go with shorties instead. IMO my Roush sound terrible as soon as the stock mid pipe is replaced.

Yeah with the night rider music? I liked the aggressive sound it produced, plus the gains, but I'm hoping the prochamber helps with that rasp since it's more of a hybrid pipe. But those x pipes are really raspy...
