So did someone from behind knock you into the car in front of you? I would be upset, too, but we can rebuild it, we have the technology!

It's okay man because the car can be replaced. That's some damage you got there but as long as your good then it doesn't matter 👌

Thanks guys. Yeah knocked me into my wife's Flex. She has minordamage comparatively. My airbags didn't even deploy. But I broke a toe somehow.

Not sure if she's totaled or not but will never be the same.

Ipad isn't letting me edit. Sorry about that. The guy didn't even try to stop. My guess is he was texting.

It always sucks when its not your fault. Same thing happened to me but life moves on. Glad a broken toe was all the damage you received.

Nobody with the obligatory "We can buff that out!" ?!?!

In all seriousness, glad you're okay. Looks like a lot to replace, but I don't think it looks totaled. Let us know the outcome!

Because this is now going to show up in a car fax report, your trade in value will go down. Be sure to let your insurance company know this, and request for "Diminished Value". In simple terms, you are intitled to receive money that covers the diminished value of your car.

And be careful in accepting the first offer; it will be low. Check what your cars worth is without an accident, and what it would be worth with an accident on a car fax report. Then request that difference. Its easy to calculate; simply get a trade in value for your car using any of the internet site tools, such as Kelly Blue Book. Enter your car without an accident, and with; see what the difference is in worth.

Insurance companies don't often offer this service to you; they are in the business to make money, so they will want to fix your vehicles at the lowest cost. Insist on Diminished value whenever the accident is not your fault!

I just went through a battle getting mine fixed most body shops around me are ridiculous I could not believe the estimates to get mine fixed. They wanted to total it and I had to have it towed to a different body shop. The first body shop was a bunch of ripoff idiots. I'll attach pics belowClick image for larger version

^^ You may have been better off accepting the recommended "totaled" offer by the first body shop.

Again, what will that Mustang be worth once it is repaired? Ask yourself this question when you are in the market for your next car: if you had the choice between a "clean" vehicle (no accidents) verses one that had one on its record, which one would you choose?

If a body shop tells me my car should be totlaed, they will get the thumbs up from me any day. As much as I love my cars that I buy, I love the idea of not loosing money or having to worry about the future worth of it when it comes time to sell or trade it in.

There are plenty "clean" used Mustangs out there for sale.

If this was a daily driver I may have considered taking the totaled value. Actually the insurance company thought I was in cahoots with the first body shop they wanted 11 grand second body shop bill was 6900. I don't care about the blemish on the car fax I plan on keeping it but even if I do sell it I'll ask my price and if someone does not want to pay my price because of that oh well. I wanted my car fixed and it was not a Totaled vehicle.

Regarding Diminished Value, I don't think all states have this. My insurance company in MA specifically said they don't do this.

Well my agent blew me off on diminished value here in California but the other guys rep is handling everything and is going to check into it and call me back. The other driver has same company I do but he's registered in Illinois. He jumped right on this and his people called me right away. Already into a rental. Not sure if I could personally sue him for the diminished value but he's here as a college student and just beginning life.

That was a good line about placing his phone for the doctors to find. My feelings exactly until I saw his car. A better head prevailed.

Anyone have any ideas on what type of rear section I could use for an upgrade? I'd sure like to get rid of that black plastic bumper. If they balk at diminished value maybe I can get them to agree for some upgrades.

I think the worst part of this accident was::::::

Them Trying to haul Midnight2012 off in a TOE truck.
I'm Sorry, I just could not help myself on this one.
I'm sure they can fix the car but a broken toe is not very pleasant. I hope it does heal up fast and does not have permanent damage.
Ronnie

Broken toe = cash. Just remember that property damage and personal injury settlements are two different things no matter what they may try to pull.

They will offer you cash to sign a waiver to not sue. When me and my family got rear ended nobody was thankfully hurt but they called me and offered it up it was like 3k they gave us.

Not sure how much you care but I always check craigs and here is a super nice rear bumper that was bought for $350 and selling for $180 unpainted.

Can probably ship it cheaper than you would buy it new for.
