Roush Axleback exhaust vs. Borla ATAK Axleback exhaust

Hey guys so I was just wondering what the general consensous is? Im installing them with a friend's dad and its between these 2. I want it loud but im just wondering if the roush is as good at the same job as Borla's ATAK. Thanks.

Best wishes,
-Dylan

I cannot really contribute to this because I have Borla S-Types. But I did want to say, if you do Roush mufflers, then you could pair it up with alot of other Roush parts (CAI Intake, Badges, etc) and really make your Stang look nice. Too bad you can't make a Borla Mustang

I forgot to mention I'm doin a k&n cold air + tune + Ford racing 3.73 gears. I've got the stripes laid out and now I just need to figure out the exhaust. So, Roush or Borla?

ATAK's are loud. just put mine on, but i'm enjoying them.

here's some videos i've got. these had like 8k miles on them when I got them used, so they're broken in:

short take off
cold start rev

rev
in cabin driving, windows down
in cabin driving, windows up

I have Roush and love them, I also love the Ataks, but there was no way I was dropping almost 800$ for Axel backs!

Yea that is wayyy too much for mufflers. Stick with Roush unless you are loaded.

Not sure. Maybe they have to hand craft the mufflers now?

I've had the roush's for a few months and I love them. They are LOUD when you give her the business but driving normal they aren't obnoxious. They have also mellowed out a lot since installing them. Overall I'm happy with them and the price. I couldn't justify 700-800 dollars for the borlas

Because they know they can and people will still buy them.

Their reputation is second to none.

not a fan of roush at all they sound really tinny on the 3.7, they drone a lot too...

a dynomax cat back can be found for like 350$ just some food for thought

Hey man I am new to this whole forum thing. Well I guess to I'm new to this whole Mustang thing too. I bought my 2014 last February and I love it. But I haven't really done anything big to it except for the exhaust. I purchased the Roush Axleback exhaust for my Stang in August and it was the best decision and money spent. Like you I was in between the Ataks and the Roush and I never heard either in person and YouTube does no justice. So I bit the bullet and it was great choice and I love my Roush.

I'm biased towards Roush because that's what I have. I can say they changed a lot over the last 10k miles. They are damn near perfect now IMO. Quiet when you want, and scream like a demon when you get on it. Sometimes I drive home never using 6th just to keep the Rpms up and enjoy that great sound that it makes from 2.5k+ Rpms.

Well price isn't an issue, and I was going to go borla Atak catbacks but was advised against it. So axlebacks were the choice. Honestly, is it worth the extra 150-200 for the borla ataks instead of roush?

If your buying them new its more of a 250-300 increase over Roush. Borlas have 4.5" tips as Roush have 4." Me personally I'd use that extra cash and pick up another mod like a set of shorties.

This is information I got when I visited the Borla Factory

Borla makes Roush mufflers. (Same as "S" type")
Roush does not use the ataks at all.

The only way you will get ATAKS is to buy Borla.
Borla also makes mufflers for FORD.
Ford Racing Touring are Borla Tourings
Ford Racing also has the "S" type
I can't remember or did not get any information if Ford racing has the ATAK Clones.

They also make mufflers for Shelby American.
Magnaflow also makes some Mufflers for Shelby American.

They had a huge event in 2012 and I don't know if they still do these but it was really nice.

Borla also makes mufflers for many other cars. It is a huge factory. The Factory and grounds are huge and If I did not fall in love with the American Muscle Mustang show, I would look into going to the Borla show and Factory again.

Not only are they different looking, but sound nothing alike. I'm not sure why the comparison between the two, maybe we misunderstood?!
Sound wise Roush are more on par with Ataks and not s types. Ronnie did we misinterpret your post?

Because of the cost. I was told the Catbacks weren't worth it. So, Axlebacks it is. At least on a 2012 V6

If the pipe bending is the same and same diameter, then i could see not much change with the catbacks. Just flashy new piping.

Because you arent replacing the real bottlenecks. Such as the mid piping, cats, or headers.
