Cluster question.

So I've done the premium cluster swap from a base 13 cluster to a premium 14 cluster. So I had my ford dealer do it for me and I told them twice not to put my ASBUILT codes into the cluster and guess what, yeah of coarse they did and now the cluster not only doesn't have track apps but no color gauges and goodies. My question is do i need the ASBUILT codes for a 14 premium with the same options I have because the cluster is a 14 or a 13?
Thanks guys for the replies.

Here is all of the codes I could gather from the interwebs. If none of these work, you will have to purchase a temp subscription to Motorcrafts AS Built website to pull codes.

You will need a code from a mustang of your year that is a premium and has similiar features, such as Reverse Sensors. Because that enables "Drive Assist" that allows you to toggle the sensors off/on.

Go figure dealership doesn't do what you ask! -.- Lol How much did the overall swap cost? I've thought about doing a similar swap for all the extras.

This swap's cost will vary widely on how well of a deal you can snag a 2013/14 Premium cluster for. As they vary from $150-$600. The VCM tool costs $125-$250 depending on where you buy it from and shipping rates. And lastly, you will need the steering wheel button with the arrows. This allows you to navigate the menu on the Premium cluster. Price varies from $30-$60. All in all, this swap can cost you from as little as $350 to almost $800.

I was recently trying to get rid of the VCM tool kit as I no longer need it. Still have it as I don't know what to ask for it. Was going to sell it to FastFord but the international shipping was a killer D:

Keep in mind though that the availability of the 13/14 Premium clusters are almost non-existant. Since I bought mine, I have only seen 1 other for sale in the 3 months. And that was the one I linked FastFord to on Ebay.

Otherwise, you could always try to buy one from Ford but you will have to tell them your current one is broken. and they charge about $600 for just the cluster.

Forgot 1 last possible expense for this swap. Sending the cluster out for mileage correction if it is a used one. Can run from $100-$200. So a complete swap can range from $500-$1000.

I was on the lucky end. I picked up my cluster for $150 from a junk yard.

Hey thanks Kevin, they have agreed to pay me for the ASBUILT access fee and for me to supply them with the new codes so they can correct their **** up. As I'm completely new to these ASBUILT codes I need to know what codes I need to give them when I purchase the 72hrs pass. Also is it the 13 or 14 codes that I need as the cluster is a 14 in a 13 car. From what I can gather from looking at my now base premium cluster is that I have no track apps or gauge colours/halo colours along with cylinder head temp/inlet air temp ect. Its basically functioning as a base cluster. Again I thank you for all your continued help in this matter! You have been truly a great help!

The next time I go in to them I basically want to tell them put this code in here, then put this code here. I don't know how many different codes they'll need to put in so it functions as a premium cluster again with track apps. Is it as simply as just a couple of codes or is it more complex now that they've turned it back to a base.

Not to get off topic but do you guys think a 13-14 cluster would work in a 2012?

Right. Because your car still thinks it has the Base cluster so it is only relaying the base features. Entering the correct code will tell the car what features to output.

If you get into the Motorcraft AS built database, you will want to pull the codes from a 2013 Premium manual trans. You will need the lines for the 760 code and 720 code.

---------- Post added at 04:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:44 PM ----------

Harm 3.7 - It will work but I am not familiar if the swap is identical or if more work is needed.

Also, keep this in mind. When I load the AS built codes into the cluster and then load a Bama tune, the Track Apps stop recording times and stuff. They still appear in the menu and still act like they are working. It is just when it goes to show you what time you ran, it is blank. So then I have to re-enter the AS Built code and it works fine again.

Kind of glad I have the VCM tool still. lol.

You may not run into this, or you may get as unlucky as me.

Here is the link Kevin, its actually the one you posted awhile back on your thread. Basically just need to know what 72hr licence to purchase and then go about getting the ASBUILT codes, then telling the tech exactly what he has to do.
Yeah that's not much lol. What a headache. Thanks again Bud!http://www.motorcraftservice.com/vdi...ageid=&gutsid=

This is from the programming and initialization section:

Reprogramming & Initialization

Ford Module Programming*(FMP)*is a software application that allows subscribers to program electronic modules on Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles. It can be used for:

Reprogramming emission-related (OBDII) modules on some vehicles manufactured in 1995 and all vehicles manufactured from 1996 to the presentReprogramming or reconfiguring non-emission-related modules on many vehicles (UBP and MS-CAN not supported)

In addition, module initialization (PATS) functions such as Keycode Erase/Reprogram and PCM Parameter Reset can be done using this application.

The subscription includes:

Access to a downloadable software application that you can install on a PC.

Access to Module Build Data (As Built), an application that provides the original settings for all electronic modules included on a specific vehicle. This application may be required when programming a module.

Cool! So what I get from this video the tech needs to change the ASBUILT codes from the ABS and the IPC to a premium cluster enabled mustang to correct what he has done.

Right. This should allow all the premium goodies to appear in your menu.

At least the car can be driven right now. It would be really unfortunate if they found a way to not get the keys programmed correctly. Lol

Going to get the subscription tomorrow after work and get the info I need. Found a few Vin #s to use but they are U.S cars, hope that isn't going to be a problem lol.

Have you looked on local dealerships websites in your area? Just look at their used cars and see if they have a 13 premium manual trans. Anywhere in canada as long as they have kph clusters if you are worried.

Looks like alot of your mods are aftermarket and nothing much from Ford initially. Unlike mine. It was tough to find one with the performance package and backup sensors, being a premium auto 2014 v6.

So I dropped off my car tonight and gave them the set of IPC codes and abs codes to try and fix my cluster that they screwed up. I'm assuming its basically hook their tool up and input the codes, no resetting anything, and see if it unlocks it? I spoke with the tech and explained to him as best I could at what he had to do.

Thats pretty much it. Hook up the tool, launch the software, go to Module Programming, go to ABS and enter code, then go to ipc and enter code.
