Is anyone having whine or howl after the gear swap? This is what makes me the most nervous.

I had whine around 60-65 mph but I took that thing right back and demanded to have it fixed. Luckily it got resolved and the shop didn't complain about redoing. Probably since I payed $600 for just install ๐Ÿ˜

That's good. That's one thing Im afraid of. Since Ill be bringing my own parts to the installer Im afraid of an issue like whining and then having to fight with him to fix it.

Talk to them about a whine issue before and make sure if you have whine that they will redo the whole install again to fix what is wrong

Oh yeah I plan on it. I understand they wont cover the parts so I need it to be clear on what issue/issues might be the gear kit and what might be the install. The place Im taking it to is a top notch company so Im not to worried, but it still is something I need to know.

If you bought ford racing gears you should be good I haven't heard of those gears being bad from anyone yet. I know the other brands like motive do have whine but that's just the way they are built from what I've heard.

Yeah that's what they quoted me for the gears and rebuild kit (which you may or may not need depending on how many miles the car has) and labor.

I'm very pleased with the service I received at Steeda Pompano. My sales rep, Rod, was polite, helpful, and professional. I'd recommend Steeda for any similar work.

Those of you that have done the re-gear.... did you, or will you, change your gear oil at 500 miles? I see that being recommended. I never did that with the oem differential.

After reading a lot on this, now at 230 miles in on swap, I would say order the Royal Purple gear oil so it can arrive when you hit 500 miles. Although Don mentioned they have not had any customers come in for any problems, I would either bring it back to Steeda or a local shop to replace the initial fluid based on the gear pattern it creates and metal shavings in the oil.

Its high if you didnt need a rebuild kit, depending on your mileage on the gears you can get away with a lower price but the rebuild kit is tough to justify. With the Mustang Evolution discount, you can shave a few off but I will have to say even if your approaching $800 territory, its a mod you can feel and appreciate all the time (vs an exhaust).

Mine was $543 and that included all the parts and labor. I also got the finned differential cover. With tax, it was about $725 out the door. No complaints here.

3.73 MPG

I just finished my gear break-in procedures (30 minutes ON, 30 minutes OFF, repeat, repeat).

I drove on the Sawgrass Expressway which is very flat road that is in very good condition. I set my cruise control at 65 MPH and the resulting mileage was 30.5 MPG. At 70 MPH, the mileage was 28.2 MPG.

I have an Air Raid CAI and I'm running the correct Bama 93R Tune. I did note that the mileage did not vary with, or without, the radio in operation.

Just ordered the 75w140 gear oil 3 quarts of royal purple, going to head back to Steeda as its not about 500 miles in on the swap, most likely next Tuesday so a little over 600 but ill let you all know what they say.

So far no whine or howl, Ted made a post about this earlier but it was due to a reused bearing I believe -- Rear end Whine repaired perfectly by Steeda

I have just received my 3.73's and I'm planing on adding a supercharger to my v6 in the next few months. I was wondering if the 3.73's would be too much gear on what I'm planing to do? I currently have the 2.73's. This is my weekend car
