Aftermarket console upgrade

So i decided to make a thread for people to show pictures of their aftermarket consoles and head units so anyone looking can find a variety of options and the pros and cons associated

I bought mine from crutchfield audio, mostly because it tells you exactly what is needed for your model to make everything work ie steering wheel controls and climate controls.

Although ive heard people dislike the head unit being on the bottom, (i can see the issue with an automatic) i have a manual and it actually makes using the stereo while shifting or with my hand there much more convenient than the raxiom model.

I also went with the pioneer 4600bt double din stereo it fits my needs and eliminates cords well, its a good price for the unit while still containing all the functionality, custom screen controls lights bluetooth audio video and navigation as well as high sound quality, with an in depth eq modification ability.

Know idea whybit flipped the pictures all funky,

the one con is it doesnt have navigation built in so i do use a substantial amount of phone battery driving around socal, but i didnt want to pay for navigation since its on my phone anyway so to each his own i guess

As you can see there are no buttons its all touchscreen except on the stereo, i think it looks much cleaner and almost like a premium model upgrade, i wanted the head unit to have some buttons just in case though which is the bottom oart for basic controls

What was the total? What all did you buy? When skipping songs on your steering wheel, is there a delay?

Kenwood nav, xm, back up camera, kicker 5.25 components in all 4 corners, kicker 700.5 amp with a Boston acoustics sub. All installed by me. Retained sync function and steering wheel controls. I already owned the head unit and other hardware. Just had to buy the dash & wire harness kit. Prob spent 450 for that stuff and a few odds and ends. Soooooooo much better than the stock stereo. I call it shaker 10,000

Aftermarket console upgrade

I got it at crutchfield, I actually live next to their 2 retail stores so I just walked in there and bought the stuff. It's not hard, but I did a full system. I worked on it for like a week. Had my entire interior out because I like to hide everything and run wire properly ect. I was in no hurry. The actual installation of the head unit took 20 min once I had already soldered all the wire harnesses out of the car and run everything.

Thanks for the compliment! I can tell you I've been installing radios in cars since the late 90's and this is the newest car I've done. They get more and more complicated as these car companies add all this crap we don't need. I miss the days you hooked up 12 wires and called it a day.

As for where i got it id suggest going to crutchfieldaudio.com and looking at stereos you can get the same one i got which i suggest or find one that better suits your needs, it has a great compare tool and filters to look for radios. As well as research on types brands an helps you find the best for you, once you select your car year make an model it tells you if the stereo will fit then once you add it to the cart it brings up another window showing all the needed equipment, you could just look on amazon or ebay for the same stuff for maybe cheaper. Although id only do that for the head unit, the cost difference for other parts isnt worth the possible headache
Also i feel crutchfield has done such an incredible job supporting their customers with incredible customer service and quality, i felt like i owed it to them to buy their gear, shipping was fast and no damage at all

I even talked to an advisor about the amp i wanted for running my two 10"subs asked a few electrical math questions, and he was very knowledgeable, then i said what unit i was looking at and he showed me a unit of the same quality for 200 instead of 400, originally i wanted a more trusted brand like alpine or jl audio, ive always mistrusted kicker (too many civics supported 😂 ) but he showed me an incredible unit and i went with his choice, its amazingly small and powerfull, ill make a new thread including the fiberglass box construction with detailed instructions for others who wish to do the same after its complete, its a shame they dont make the cubby hole boxes for both driver and passenger side

About 350 ish for the stereo, 250 for the console and extras so 600 total although you could buy the stereo on amazon or ebay for probably 200-230 this is all not including installation that cost 200 with installation it was 800 total
