Without getting too personal, who is the breadwinner? My parents have a rule where anything over $100 justifies a discussion; it might be as simple as my dad saying he's buying a new guitar, or as extravagant as my mom saying she's buying a new Cadillac, but at least they talked about it. You just don't want her to think you're spending family money on toys. As I said, buy her something shiny, too, and just plan on all future mods costing 2x as much, lol.

I guess I'm lucky that my girlfriend's "hobby" is her collection of signed memorabilia from her favorite shows. Her birthday present was $50 on eBay, and she has no interest in the $800 diamond earrings sitting in my safe...
Thats a good family methodology, I think I am going to man up and tell her I bought this for myself, working my *** off spending money on myself to put another smile on my face. Right now, I am only income of the family and the majority of my income goes to that. When I have extra, I usually indulge in trips or gifts for us all but dont go crazy on 'supplemental purchases'. The last major purchase was the car and the mods attached to it were additional income made on advertisement money on my youtube channel each month. You all helped me quell what to do in this situation:

1.) Cant hide a Roush no way in hell
2.) Man up Terry
3.) Be honest

Thanks guys for all the advice, I think I know how I can handle it

If you need something shiny I'll cut you a great deal on a set of diamond fleur de lis earrings/pendant, lol.

Or you could just install the exhaust and say that its your car not hers and if she doesnt want to hear the exhaust you can just take her car

My fiancé gets mad at me when I spend money on my car. I always try to hide my mods lol. An exhaust is next for me as well, and I've been trying to warm her up to it as well.

Sounds like you need a new girlfriend. Sorry but you're not going to dictate what I put on my car with my money.

Man enough to tell people it's my wife that makes enough so I can put the occasional mod on my toy.

Plan E: Loosen the exhaust clamps enough so it sounds like **** for a week. Replace the OEM exhaust with the Rousch and say "Well that's better"

I guess I lucked out and got the girlfriend who doesn't mind me modding, but also likes mustangs. We are fixing up her 95 gt and said I can do what ever I want to it as long as
A) it runs
B) I pay for the crazy stuff she doesn't really need, but I want aka thumper cams

After I got my headers without my wife knowing I took her for a ride and lit the tires up and her response was "well you obviously spent more money on your car, but Damn this thing is fun!"

A better idea would be to remove the mufflers and say they fell off on the road and tell her that its cheeper to buy the roush axlebacks than factory oem's

Remove just one. Both would be suspicious. Drive it for a day and then say you ordered new ones cheaper than replacing OEM. More believable.

Yeah, thats what i was thinking of. I think he might even be able to get away with saying that somebody stole them.

Why not tell her you found them on Craigslist for a steal of a price you couldn't pass up so you traded yours plus a little cash for them?

Or man up and tell her the truth. This is the woman you plan on spending the rest of your life with right? If not it shouldn't matter, but lying to your significant other is just plain stupid. Relationships where you feel like you need to lie isnt a real relationship.

I see you got the Roush axle backs in your mod list in your sig. So you installed them, or is that wishful thinking?
