Don't hate fellas for me bringing this up because I'm a Ford man for life. Got 5 of them including my 2000 mustang GT. Has anyone checked out the new Dodge Hellcat Charger? I'm partial to manual shift muscle cars but that 8 speed automatic Hellcat is one automatic I would love to have.

From what I've read, they aren't performing as advertised....

The multi-speed automatic transmissions is one of the ways that the auto manufacturers are able to keep up with the CAFE standards.

It really is a matter of preference, but automatic transmissions are better suited for daily driving conditions.
As is demonstrated in this video...

I like manual transmissions. But at my age after a couple of hernia surgeries where I could not drive a car with a clutch for a few weeks, and a hip replacement where I would not be able to operate a clutch for a couple of months, I settled for the auto on this car. It does still have a manual mode so I can still have some of the fun shifting. It is a nice compromise.

In ny opinion a sports car should be manual, in a way to prove control and attention to driving, i dont even think they should put cupholders in sports cars ie Lamborghini charges 3000 for a pos cupholder to discourage it, youre driving you should enjoy it an not be so distracted endangering others.

Seeing an auto sports car to me is kind of dissappointing

I think the auto from Ford is pretty sluggish in stock form, but with a good tune you can have just as much fun with it as a manual. My next stang will probably be another manual but I'm not opposed to getting into an auto either.
Ford's manuals come with their own set of headaches as the constant clicking and clunking is not fun to listen to, and don't get me started on that piece of **** that ford calls a shifter bracket!

I'm the end it's all personal preference and BOTH have their pro's and con's.

Very true although not so much because the v6 3.7 has as much horsepower as the 05-09 gt's sooo theres that plus v6 has been a sports car series in asia a long while, and formula 1 are four cylinders 😂 its just disheartening to see a nice fast car then see the auto shifter, and people as what car i have i said v6 mustang an they say or an auto an i say no manual, and the look on their face is pure shock, granted when i looked at mustangs they had 18 for sale and 2 were manual 1 v6 one v8, sad to see

Agreed. I get excited when I see a mustang parked or whatnot and then I peer in and it's an auto :/. Lol and as far of it being a distraction I agree with that too. Also a distraction are all extra fancy schmancy stuff in the console. I'm just saying lol

I choose an automatic cause I am a retired truck driver with over 1.5 million miles behind me and after driving anything from a ten speed to a 18 speed I am tired of shifting. I love my auto.

Cup holders never get used in my car and it's an auto. No drinks or food allowed! Sport mode is fun on the automatic on occasion. I learned to drive with a manual and while I enjoyed it I still prefer an automatic. This thread can keep on going but your going to get the guys that say manual all the way or your going to get the guys that say auto all day. It just comes down to preference. The only person that's right is the one that bought their car the way they want it, wether it be manual or auto. There is no wrong choice and if your ignorant enough to think one is better than the other, oh well.

Well here's my 2 cents.
Drove manual for many years. drove auto for many years.
Test drove a 2014 Mustang V6 manual and didn't like the feel at all, so I decided on the auto.
Don't hate either one.

I like the stick shift in my 14 v6. Why don't you like it? IMO having control of the car is what's exciting about it. I had a rental charger out in Michigan and it was auto, but didn't enjoy driving it as much as I do my mustang.

To be honest...during my test drive, I kept having trouble getting into 3rd. LOL
I probably would have gotten used to it but I was already borderline on what I wanted.
Not to mention I find it extremely difficult to do any spirited driving in my neck of the woods.
If it was something like a Miata or like the Pontiac Solstice I just sold, I would definitely have to have a manual.

Why the hate for Autos?

The synchros in the trans are weird it's the same thing with my car when it comes to 3rd gear...
Same thing happened to the manager of my local O'Reillys, with his super snake...

curious as to what you all mean about 3rd gear being weird? I never noticed anything. I mean, shifting on the car in general feels clunky, but it's a tight clunky. I came from a 91 Nissan pickup then an 01 Nissan Frontier, and they had typical truck long throw stick shifts. the clutches sucked compared to how nice and tight this one is too. idk, I love the manual on this thing. feels nice.

then again, I've never owned an auto so idk. my family hasn't either. my parents are both 65 and 66 and still drive stick daily lol. my mom's got a 98 pathfinder, but it's rusting away, so I'm trying to get dad to look into a new Explorer. my brother and his wife have a 13 Explorer Sport and that thing is nice. so it'll be the first automatic my parents had in like, 27 years lol
