Sway bar

Took my V6 into the dealer for regular maintenance check up. Asked them to check out noisy rear end. They are telling me I need a new sway bar? It's a '12 with just 40K on her. Does this seem legit? I've read a couple of other blogs that lead me to believe it's only the bushings. Any input would be appreciated, hate dealerships!

yeah may just be the bushings they sell kits for it, i've always had good luck with poly bushings, and the sway bar on this car is pretty easy to remove so no worries there..

I suspect I have the same issue. Been waiting for better weather to look into it.

Sway bar

Thanks, I'll start with the bushings and see if that solves the noise issues.

Could also be the bushings in the end links going bad. If so, there are aftermarket links with poly bushings that can fix the problem.

Had same issue a month ago, thought about just getting bushing and links but decided to just got with the entire thing. Got the H&R sway bar, at first I didn't want to spend that much just for a bar. When I got it man! It didn't feel cheap at all and my cornering is beyond improved. Didn't think a bar could do so much difference on the car.

My rear sway bar went after only 14k miles. I actually just had Ford fix it today under warranty. Here's the new one:

I was disappointed that such a part would break so soon. My rear end was noisy and I thought it was a shock or something.

It is very uncommon for one to break but that is what your warranty is for. It was most likely defective from the start.
It happens, nothing is perfect. Besides you now have a brand new one now.

I had my rear sway bar end links replaced under warranty. Took three trips and they started with a shock that was apparently also blown. After the new end links (which I suggested on my first visit) all was quiet and right in the world.

Granted, I am eventually going to replace them with aftermarket, but hey, didn't cost me a dime.
