It's not nearly as fun driving like an old lady as it is like a 16 year old that just got his driver license.

This guy right here knows what he's talking about. I only track my miles when I take trips to the beach which is about 75 miles. On my daily driving I usually get around 20 mpg.

I reset my mpg thing at every oil change or 5k miles. Since going back to the stock intake and exhaust, I'm now showing 30.5mpg after 2k miles on this tank. That's doing a 110 miles round trip highway commute 4 days a week. Cruise usually set at 75-80. Sometime if the traffic is moving it'll edge up to 85mph. On my days off I do some around town errands usually to the Walmart and grocery store. I would say I'm a solid 90% highway. I will also WOT 2nd on onramps at least twice a week.

Gotta love the 6mt w 2.73s.

Not at all true. I've gotten anywhere from 30-37 miles per gallon manually calculating meaning I fill up 100% drive over 3/4 of a tank then fill up again. Divide miles driven by gallons to fill up again. The computer isn't 100% accurate as certain conditions can cause it to cause false readings. For example idling seems to negatively impact the mpg calculator.

Granted it is all highway when I get that. Generally I get 24-26 in the city.

How many MPG do you get?

I think an instant MPG monitor would be very beneficial in this situation.

I use Fuelly to calculate my mileage... you can see my mileage broken down on a per-tank basis at: Mustang (Ford Mustang) | Fuelly

Some BMWs have that and it's basically a dummy gauge. As the instant mpg is going to fluctuate so much depending on the amount of throttle, uphill, downhill, etc.

How many MPG do you get?

I know I work on them, and my dad had a 99 M3.
If not a instant MPG monitor then a more active average MPG monitor.

Since my mustang was pre owned I'm just trying to figure out if it's normal to only get 25.8 all highway or if I may need to start looking into causes. I figured it would be closer to 30 with as far as I drive and with it being 65 the whole way...

How many MPG do you get?

I have customers experiment with using certain gasoline in their cars. On average with a non ethanol gas they get 1-2 miles per gallon more, with conservative driving. If it's true I don't know, just basing on what I'm told. If you have a lead foot, probably won't see an improvement.
I know a less restrictive exhaust system will improve mileage. My truck does so much better when I changed the exhaust system. A nice little side effect is it improved responsiveness and power.

Tire pressure, alignment, air filter, quality of fuel, those would be the first to check. Plus I think you said you are on your 2nd tank? I would give it 5k for all the moving parts to "break-in" together. Also try keeping your cruising rpm under 2k.

Oh no it has 41k on the clock. It's the second take since I took ownership :p sorry for the confusion. Brand new tires w/ nitrogen. Fuel is 87 e10 from quick trip which is one of the best stations around here. I'm changing the oil, filters, air filters etc this weekend hopefully. Got a full weekend (sons birthday plus t-ball practice) hoping it'll go up after all of that. May run a tank of 91+ and see what happens. As far as cruising I rarely go over 2k. Everyone once in a while I'll take off from a light for fun but that's rare. We have those dumb gps trackers for insurance in the cars for a few weeks so I drive like a grandma lol

I don't own one but from what I've seen and heard resonator deletes make it quiet loud.

This made my statement true, if you re read my post you'll see your getting that great mpg because it's all highway mileage. If I drove like I did when I first got the car I could average around 29 city/highway.

I have only run QT 87 for the last 10k or so. It's pretty good IMO, drives better than shell 91. At 41k I would definitely start w fresh filters, fluids and greases all around, you may also look at moving to synthetics in the rear end and the trans.

Check your brakes, make sure they aren't dragging, maybe swap in a fresh battery.

**** it... Rebuild the whole thing!!

Get about 16 mpg average, mostly in town driving. Less than 4500 miles on the vehicle, so maybe it will improve over time and with more freeway driving.

I like the numbers in this thread compared to others...they made me feel like a leadfoot. I get 22-24 with math semi-rural back roads. 26.6 best ever...less than expected but the combo of performance and mpg is good.

14 V6 Performance Package, BAMA tune, 73 throttle, full exhaust, air intake, 3:31 gears, mmm I think that's it for anything that would possibly effect mpg.

On road trips I normally get about 50 to 80miles more than what it says on dash.
