I didn't do a vehicle health report or whatever it's called. Could that be the problem?

no, I didn't do mine either.

also, I had issues with a USB stick. it was fat32 but the car just wouldn't read it. I switched to another stick and it worked fine.

I dragged all three files to the thumb drive.

A buddy in town had to go thru 3 USB sticks before he found one that worked.

Hmm...I wonder if SYNC only takes USB sticks of a certain size (stop laughing, people!) for updates.

I have a 4 gig thumb drive that I erased and reformatted to fat32 and followed every one of their instructions. Hopefully it will work today.

Well tried it again with 2 more flash drives. Both didn't work. Now I'm going to try to put the files on the drive using a pc computer. I didn't think it would be this hard.

Anyone that is having trouble, try this. This is how I did it after having some trouble.

Took me about 10min to figure it out. Wasn't working at first but I got it. Let me post how I did it.

This is not in the directions but you need to go to MENU - SYSTEM SETTINGS - ADVANCED - INSTALL APPLICATION - OK

Use the seek buttons to navigate and the TUNE/OK button to select. Works perfect

The instructions on Ford's Sync site says to drag all the unzipped files to the USB drive. In my case there were two files and the syncmyride folder.

Thank you Chaz12. That worked for me. My last SYNC update was 6/4/14, my build date. This new update was waiting for me on the Ford Owner Website.

While some are remembering, anyone else remember one of these with a 45RPM player & reverb under the dash. My roommate in college had one. It was new

I still have the issue where it doesn't always return to playing the USB flash drive (full of MP3's) when I get back in the car. I'll start the car & it will be on Line In, even though I NEVER use Line In.

Funny, mine is a 2012 and does all this already. Every now and then I will have to reconnect my phone. Is this just for BT audio functions and such?

I unzipped my files to my USB which saved me a step.

I put a top of the line 8 track player in my 71 Mach I, which was 3 years old when I bought it for $1500, never mind.

OK I am fully aware that this makes 100% no sense at all. But I installed my update and my sound system actually sounds better now. I don't know if it went in and did something to the settings or what. The first thing I did after buying my car was have some really good aftermarket speakers put in. But they still always still sounded shrill no matter how I adjusted the sound. Now they have a nice clean sound to them. I have no clue why. But there you go.

Oooh. Focal's are nice. How do they sound with the stock head unit.

Better than factory. You should see your factory speakers. On the 13s and 14s they use a 4 1/4" and a tweeter. The 4 1/4" has practically no magnet at all. It is unbelievable. I had a reputable electronics store do some modification to get my 6x8 Focals to fit.

What kind of modification was needed? I was planning to get some 6x8s next month.

Update worked with my 16 GB USB stick. Had to re-pair my phone and re-download my phonebook, but loving the new features so far!

They had to do some kind of cutting on the bracket that held the 4 1/4" speaker and tweeter, so they could fit the 6x8 in.

You know, I thought the same thing when I first was testing my system after the installation but I just wrote it off as some kind of misperception on my part. Now a week or so later I don't think there was any real change. There were some notes about improving stability and performance with Apple devices in particular however. If so any improvement would only be for the USB input I guess.

Haha, may have to give that a try. My 64gb iPhone 5 only has 300mb of free space left. Need to get me a 6+ I guess.

I am convinced this isnt in my head. I think the USB communication has improved. Before my FM radio had a cleaner sound than my USB. Now it seems the other way around. Sonny Landreth was sounding mighty fine today.
