GT500 mufflers on a V6

Since the weather is finally starting to get warmer after a VERY long winter, it's time to start modding again. First up: exhaust. I was going to get the Borla ATAK axlebacks but now I'm considering the GT500 mufflers. Does anyone else on here have them? And if so, how do they sound compared to the Borlas or anything else like it? I also love the quad tips the '13-'14 GT500 has, will those work with my 2012 V6?

I've heard it's hit or miss. I believe there was a post where someone did it successfully a long time ago but it was a long project.
You probably have to cut into your bumper for quad exhaust and and get a new rear valence. Personally I'd just go with the Ataks or s-types.

I have them. They aren't miss. You don't know what a good sound is. I have no catalytic converters, still sounds better than most of the ones with stock midpipes. Here is mine. It has one odd tone but what exhaust doesn't? http://youtu.be/BUsRx9LEsuc

You will have to remove your bumper and do some cutting for a new valance. You can buy the mufflers and valance for around 900.00.

I had them on my 2011 V6; great sound.

However, they have become a more popular mod, and the price has gone up. I paid a hundred bucks for mine used.

On number 6. But this is my final one. Love, love, love it. No drone, sounds good even with no cats, burbly, not a v8 tone, but burbles nicely. Will backfire if you let it.

Wow haha. It took me 3 years to decide on which exhaust I wanted. Ended up with Borla s types for $580 but was exactly what I wanted.

I just installed my Ataks and you can't go wrong with them! I've been very surprised, they do not drone at all and they sound like stock when you're just cruising under 2,000 rpms but once you start going over 2,000 they start to scream.

I love the atak, but there was no way i was paying almost 800 for ABS. They better not drone for that price.

Me personally I have heard the gt500 mufflers on a v6 in person, and i have roush Axle Backs on my 2011 v6. and they sound very similar. In my opinion the Roush axlebacks sound better. That would be cheaper, and a whole lot easier as well since it is a simple unbolt and bolt on the new ones process.

Same internals as the single tips, just 2 more tips. Same sound. I'm happy too. They don't drone. It's not loud unless you want it to be.

Sounds similar to how my 4.0 behaves with shorties, catless x, and Bullitt axlebacks. So manageable but will definitely open up

sounds good. honestly, sounds just like my borlas. i don't hear much of a diff.

your starter sounds completely different from mine. i wish these cars sounded like the 90's foxbody starters in the GT's haha. such a distinct ford sound. but i don't want that ford power steering 90s sound..lol

I would've gotten Borla S types, but I couldn't pass up these when they were on sale for $250. I got them installed for $60. And I believe they changed the starter in the 2014 mustangs. They sound nice and refined, which I like.

Does the GT500 rear valance fit any of the quad tip exhausts or do you have to use the Ford axle back?
