Not sure how or where it happened. Definitely not a warranty issue. I thought about aftermarket but don't like any of the hoods. My insurance will cover all but the $250 deductible.
The paint is "cracked" and will eventually peel.
It's funny cause the bumper and grill are untouched. I suppose that's a good thing though.
I haven't seen any hoods that I really liked and feel worth it to get that installed instead. I honestly really like the stock hood.
Don't claim it on your insurance will only cause your rates to go up. Put it on a credit card and pay it off or pay in cash.
And if the payment doesn't increase they will likely drop you the next time you have a claim. After that all the other companies see you made a claim. I went through it with all state.
Don't worry, since it should be covered under comprehensive your rates will not go up just like your agent said.
