BOSS 227 (the white one) build thread

So I am the other boss 227 floating around. Currently Alrefire and I are in partnership to build a 3.7 motor to boost for track racing. The left/right variety, not this straight line crap.ive been here since I got my car and happy to report 113,000 miles with 6,000 mile oil changes and regular service followed by the ford manual.

I bought the car stock, white, and "new" by ford in 2010with 25,000 miles on it. It was a dealer rental. Now the car is worth more in paint and mods than what it is actually worth on trade in.

First the design. It's a 1969 boss 302 styling. Even down to the lettering for the trunk. The hood, roof, deck lid, spoiler, and trunk lid are all paint. The side decal is oem lettering with custom 227. I did this because of rock chips. Easier to replace.

Appearance: it's got a GT front bumper conversion, GT fogs with a starkey oem wiring harness, painted grille surround like the boss, and the boss/CS lower valence.

Boss 302S rims 19x9 up front with a 245/45/19 Pirelli all season. 19x10 with a 275/40/19 Pirelli all season. 35+ offset.

Scottdrake mustang trunk letters,
Gt500 spoiler, boss 302 rear valence, soon side splitter and Boss 302 front splitter. Gt500 spoiler is black on top, white on bottoms, soon to be installed.

Interior:

It is a premium with carbon fiber wrapped dash, console, steering wheel, and radio bezel. My color option and sync, stone interior and leather seats originally. I swapped out to a Shelby gt500 interior in ebony. Rear seat delete.

Performance: steeda CAI, MPT performance tune with race shifts, mac OFF ROAD Prochamber, gt500 axle back exhaust, ported intakes upper and lower.

Suspension: BMR lower control arms, BMR upper control arm and mount, BMR panhard bar, Koni struts with gt500 mounts and eibach sportline springs (over summer for spring install)
Koni shocks, eibach camber bolts.

What makes it a Boss 227? I looked it up and all I see from Ford is the Boss 302...

You have to understand why the boss mustang was created. To go around GT tracks back in the 70's to compete with Pontiac and the camaro. It was a track car/ corner carver. Never mind the 302, but the boss was the ceo of ford and wanted to beat Chevy on the track instead of the standard Mustangs. They did. It's a little off, but that's the gist of what makes a boss. Now, mine is a show car. It pays tribute to the 1969 boss and can go to an auto cross event if I wish. 302 is the cubic inch displacement of the 5.0 motor. 227 is the cubic inch of the 3.7 motor.

Meh
It's more of your belief in the wording.

The idea behind it is a 3.7L track car.
Everyone's definition of that is different.

Well we decided to go to shows together. I have the show, he's got the go. Although Alrefire has forced me to go full suspension.

Funny though, we met both as boss striped cars. It took off from there.

We did attempt to put them on. Failed horribly. This is why my car is painted, not vinyl.

Their may be a third one to add to the 227, I'll represent the NC one! I love what Whitelightning did, the Boss 302's along with the 2012-2014 GT500 have been the 2 cars I have wanted since they came out. I am fortunate enough to have a white 302 sitting at my ford dealership right now, that I can take pictures of and make notes of what it looks like. In the mustang club I am in, 90% of the people have Roush's, and doing somthing similar to what Whitelightning and alrefire, did will just set mine apart from all of them. Of course, my build will not be exactly the same, most of the appearance will be similar more or less, as mine is Oxford white like his.

Ok I have to admit... For a while I have been working on my version of the 227 although mine is based off a newer style. The reason I don't have pictures of my car because I am not done the stripes are on and I have a lot of mods arising this week. Also I did the vinyl myself with a friend (our first time) it turned out decent don't nit pic it and it is ok. But I am in Ohio and I wanted to support and I loved the idea ever since I seen their cars whenever people ask me about where I got the idea I pull out a picture of Whitelights car. Although the love his more lol

I may go with the Boss302s hood, I'm just worried about the big heat extractors it has, as my car is a daily driver, Also that looks good with the blue and black.

Trust me, I visited many dealerships all over Alabama, crawled under and made measurements of the 302 to get what I needed to be in spec. Did the same for a 70 boss as well. Mine is performance white btw, Oxford white is a 13-15 color and 99-09 color. 10-12 got performance white.

Looks like you need to use more baby soap and water bud. Vinyl r easy just like tint. Get a spray bottle. Fill with water and baby shampoo. Shake it up. Soak the car and the sticky side of the vinyl. It should be wet enough to that you can easily slide the vinyl around on the cars paint. Once it's in place all you do is use a wet bondo squeeze and work from the inside out. Work slow so you can see those small air bubbles and it will look perfect.

FYI I do love the boss idea. If I didn't have an mca edition is be ripping my stickers off and doing something similar here in Michigan.

Well that's good. Just some advice for future installs. Vinyl can be very easy or very hard all depends on how you go about it

I've been looking at that and wondering what all you need to make that work, and how much hp that would put out. I'm thinking about getting an intake ported from them.

It took Alrefire and I 20 minutes for the driver side header during the turbo install. Not much to do beside PB blaster and work it back and forth.

Are you a part of Facebook? If so join the cyclone mustang page. I had mine ported both upper and lower for $10 because the guy is a friend. I gave him a camshaft lamp to say thanks.
