Cost to Dip your Stang

Anyone out there know what it costs to get your whole car dipped?

Gloss finish, not Matte.

I've gotten a quote on getting it wrapped but dont want to spend that kind of money.

I had an estimate for around 1500 but they said it won't last more than a year or two so in the long run it would be cheaper to get a paint job....

Yeah ouch, a year or two is not long at all.

I was quoted like 3k for vinyl wrap including door jams.
What would a paint job cost? going from dark red to a bright orange?

Different places vary of course so it might be more or less. I know paint jobs are extremely expensive especially if its something other than a solid regular color like how you are wanting a fade effect, its going to be pricey but I am honestly not sure. Just call around and they should give you a brief estimate without having to take the car in or anything. I have seen some extremely nice plasti dip jobs but idk i dont like the idea of it. Its hard to remove and I feel its just a ghetto way of painting your car. I think vinyl is better but I dont really know much about vinyl or plasti dip.

Also plasti dip and vinyl are removable and you can go back to your original color if you get tired of it or just want a change while paint is pretty permanent unless youre going to paint the car again back to the original color so you have to think about your options and decide what you want.. If its permanent then go for the paint, if its temporary or you think you will want to change it up or go back to original then plasti dip or vinyl is of course the better option.

I had mine done at a local shop for $500 for a color called burnt copper, they normally charge 350+ for basic colors.

Paint jobs can range from 3-4 hundred to 10,000 plus. All depends on quality, prep work required, and if there going to do underhood, door jams, trunk, etc.

I had an eclipse that I got painted at at economical place like Macco for like $350 and that was just the body (I sprayed the door jams and trunk area) and it turned out good just wanted perfect so it really all depends on what you want. I would say any reputable body shop would charge 4-5k minimum.

i think they use around 4 gallons of plasti dip to get coverage on a s197 mustang, it's gonna be up to the $600+ range for a job depending on color glossifier, pearls and all that good stuff.

If you want a high gloss finish you will need the top coat. I haven't checked with my local dip place but I imagine there would be a good price increase.

Its very hard bro. A friend and i tried dipping a camaro and it all went down hill. On the other hand i have dipped my spoiler, rear deck lid and hood scoop with good results

I'm well aware haha, but 90% of the job comes out to how well you prep, and if you can do clean edges. However, you can afford to do the whole job 2-3 times with that kit vs what it will cost you to go somewhere else.

Haha true. I was just curious really. I'd like to get it resprayed in a couple years though? What would that cost?

Does anyone know what it will cost to paint a Cobra R hood? Same color

Any one know if you can do this over stock decals and not see them in the end? I'd love to be able to do this but not if I have to remove the decals.

If the decals are raised then you will be able to see them but if there painted on it should cover them

Ah dang. I have the mca package and didn't want to remove the sitckers since they are not replaceable. I was thinking of dipping the car in something red or blue. A lot of white mustangs around me. Seems like every visual mod I do there's three others that follow in suit. It's rather anoying

I can't imagine the stickers are non-replaceable. Even if they aren't if YOU don't like them don't hold out on the hopes that they will be what makes a V6 Mustang collectable.

I do like them but wud be nice to change things up. This is a factory ordered mca with premium sound and nav with performance package. Every option on the interior. I don't want to do much to it because they didn't make a lot of them exactly like this one. I'm waiting to get the proof sheet from for on exact numbers. But in guessing less than 20 bassed offdata I've seen so far. And it's a manual trans with the glass roof.

Personally I found it to be easier to wash, you just have to use a specific washing soap. And you don't have to dry it because it doesn't show any watermarks, and every other week spray a protective dip coat that protect it and give it a smoother feel.
