Did I get a fake Roush Mustang?

I bought a 2014 Roush Mustang RS. I tried to verify the Roush in Roush official website on the VIN number. But it claimed they do not have any record with the VIN number. Nevertheless, there is a Roush serial number on the Roush tag.
Do I get a fake Roush Mustang? What can I do?

Thank you very much

I believe there should be a roush badge with the serial number on the car somewhere if it's a real roush

So the last five digits are invalid? Check your passenger door jam for a Roush serial number.

Yes. My Mustang does have two badges with Roush serial number. But I cannot use the VIN number to verify the Mustang in Roush Website.

Just to clarify. You are aware that they use the last 5 digits of the vin in their registry.

Just curious, did you buy it from a dealer or private party? That would suck if you paid extra for the Roush and it isn't. Hope everything turns out good.

Yup. That is why it is frowned upon when people put Named badges on their car when they are not. Such as - Shelby, GT, or Roush. The mods aren't the issue, its the labeling.

Try giving roush the serial number and see if it's in there system and they might be able to send the specs of the car to. Then you could just look at all the things your car has to see if it's a roush

Sometimes they can find Roush badges in a salvage yard or stolen, then build a fake. Your best prospect is to find the nearest Roush dealer and let them take a look.

I bought it from a GMC dealer in Oklahoma. The car is trade-in, the dealer told me this is a real Roush.

Honestly I think it's a roush and your over thinking this situation too much man. Just call roush and ask them about this situation your having. Give them the vin and then serial number and go from there.

Or better yet contact the dealer that says it was sold from and ask them about it

Here's some good info. Also, it states you only use the last six digits of your VIN when using the Roush VIN search.

A guy in my club bought a used Roush from a Ford dealer. The rims started to go bad. He tried to get Roush replacement rims using his VIN but was told it was not a Roush. Bad scene. He quit the club a short time later so I never heard how it turned out but we told him to stay on it. Another guy bought a Steeda and it had cobras on backward and other things and no windshield banner, etc, just some papers. BE CAREFUL - TRUST BUT VERIFY!

Interesting note, I wanted to freshen my 427R graphics on my car. Roush wouldn't sell me them unless I sent them photos as proof they were damaged. The same thing goes for my serial plaque in my engine bay. They are very up tight on their cars.

Did I get a fake Roush Mustang?

It is. They are basically preventing people from cloning their cars. Which they do offer their body kits but that's a given. But the special editions are a lot harder to clone than say an RS or a stage 3. But the thing that prevents a clone from being authentic is the registry. I spoke with a Roush rep because when I bought my car I was convinced it wasn't real. For the price there was just no way. Which the previous owner had all the stickers in the right places and the engine bay plaques were in the right places. He even had the window stickers from ford and Roush, and I still didn't believe it. You can copy and replicate all of that, but you can't replicate the registry. Then I go on the site and type in the vin and there it was it is a real one. Roush rep told me they (their cars) are entered in the registry after completion and before shipping. He assured me they don't leave until they are entered in the registry.

Never, ever believe what a Dealer tells you. Between ignorance and dishonesty you will often get false information.

Best advice ever...
Take this "Boss 302" for example:
Ford Mustang GT 440 Horsepower Lowered | eBay

I must say though, this is one of the best, well modded and quality used Mustangs I've ever seen. Whoever did it, did it right. No plasti dip queen. But the dealership selling it?......ignorant or deceptive.

^ all it says is "boss 302 upgrades " it's not calling it a Boss.

But it does not make 440 Idc what the graph says, unless there is alot more than what they are saying

I still call decepticon on them. Picture a Mustang GT for sale with huge writing on their main ad picture that say..."Lowered Roush Mustang" and " Roush Mustang"
When all it has is added Roush parts.
If you take that Boss ad plus an uninformed salesman and it may end in a brand new Mustang guy thinking he walked away with a real Boss 302.. And legit telling people that, until someone laughs at him or he does research later.

That's pretty deceptive. I see somebody not knowing mustangs buying that and telling everyone they have a boss. But people should do their homework. If you plan to invest that much in anything, please do your homework. Some people won't buy a hand tool unless it's lifetime guaranteed but others will pay 25k for a car without knowing what they are buying.
