transmission/DS "metal ding" sound after Alum. 1 pc. DS installed

Just had AM's aluminum 1 pc driveshaft from the driveshaft shop installed by a very reputable driveline shop. Vibrations are gone now from the stock 2 pc. All good, EXCEPT now shifting from forward to reverse a small but recognizable metal ding or bell sound comes from the DS/trans area. Is this gear slop acceptable and the noise too? transmission shifts fine and works great.

I too hear this on mine same stuff you are experiencing. I checked the bolts twice. Never found a fix.

I thought with an adjustable upper control this goes away but I installed one and it didn't make a difference lol

I have the same situation. The drive to reverse noise only appeared after I swapped the factory driveshaft to one piece aluminum. Everything is tight and I'm guessing that it's normal (I hope).

This probably just due to the rotation cause from the gears switching between reverse to drive. Drive shaft it probably getting a quick bump up to 1/4" but probably less. Jack the car up and rotate or rock the driveshaft. However much play you see or hear is probably the cause for your noise. Nothing to worry about here guys.

The aluminum driveshafts are much noisier than the steel and amplify the sounds. Not a problem, just an annoyance.

Seems like the only people are those of you with out the fun trans

Manual for fun
Auto for track speed.

I'm by far a manual trans guy. Love them but I can't lie an autos better for the strip.

I would LOVE a manual trans. HOWEVER, I got my Mustang at the End of Year Sale last year. Where all of the Ford dealers were dropping prices on new 2014 Mustangs to get them off the lot for 2015s.

I checked all around the San Antonio and Austin areas. ALL of the manual transmissions were SOLD. The ONLY Auto left worth anything was the one I got. With the tech package, reverse sensors, and performance package. Better then nothing I guess....

I cry every time I think about it

I got lucky finding mine. I'm from Michigan and was in pa for work and saw it at the dealer. Went inside and said I wanted to see it and sure enough it was a manual so I picked it up. I know your feeling though because I couldn't find a manual in Michigan any where
