Exhaust

So I'm surfing the interweb looking at different exhaust setups like I do most nights and lately I've been confused about the difference between the Borla atak mufflers and the catback system. Can you guys help me out?

Axleback is just the mufflers/tips. Catback includes the over the axle pipes.

Does the over axle pipe include an h or x pipe?

No. It simply changes out the pipes that run from the cats to the mufflers. Usually the pipes are bigger in diameter than the stock pipes.

Yeah, catback is just the pipes between mid pipe and mufflers. They are better flowing than the stock. For me, it wasn't work the extra few hundred dollars to maybe get a couple more horses.

I, like you, spent hours on end trying to figure out the perfect setup because I did not want it to sound ricerish. I had ataks on before the s-types and it was wayyyy too obnoxious for me. Difficult to hold a conversation over sync and it was just stupid loud at WOT. Luckily I found someone who traded me their s-types plus $200 on their end. I think it turned out pretty well for a six banger..

I just made this drive by video today. Borda stypes, BBK shorty headers, and FRPP cut and clamp xpipe.

if possible try and listen in person (car show/cruises/just post asking for locals) remember there is also riding along and the possibility of drone. I doubt there are any real world gains from the two choices especially on a stock engine.

I've had both an axleback and a catback system. I didn't really feel any gains with the catback. The only reason I got it was because I was looking for something different and got it used for cheaper than most axlebacks are new.

If your not worried about being to loud. I went with a axle-delete straight pipe. I use 2.5'' piping with some 4" output resonated tips. Whole setup costed me only $120. Muffler shop fee's differ form around $60-100. Sounds beast! If you go with this setup make sure the tips are resonated. Ive had both just pipe and resonators. The resonators definitely gave it a deeper less metal tone. Dont get small of tips I made that mistake the first time. That rear exhaust hole is too big for anything less then 3.5"

Sounds good, but those 3.5" tips are a deal breaker for me. Throw on some 4 or 4.5" tips and you might sell more units.

YouTube a bbk shorty header with roush ab. I found a video of some guy running up and down his neighborhood. Long story short that's what I went with and I love the sound. I have 3.31 gears and no more drone. The roush ab alone will drone some on my car but after I did headers no more drone
