bama race tune vs mpt tune?

OK guy I have a 2014 v6 mustang bone stock so I decide to get a air raid intake with the x4 tuner I first installed the 87 tune then a week later I installed the 93 race tune not really a big difference also before I had installed my tunes bone stock I was able to peel out like crazy but ever since I installed the tune all that was taken away I have no clue I emailed am they responded quickly but unfortunately one of my family member was taken to the hospital I waited to respond to am because my ticket was closed out and I can understand that but I sent them another email because I was ready to deal with the problem I am having with the tune and this was a few days back no response then I read how other people have problems and they just sometimes after a couple of times just say sorry thier is nothing we can do about it so I am thinking about switching over to mpt tunes so can anyone give me some input thank you .

Unfortunantly, i'm kinda in the same boat as you.. I've got issues with my programmer, and trying to get it figured out.. I should know more on tuesday if they found anything out and got it fixed.. Which i hope they do, because i don't exactly wanna take away from a good supporting vendor, but if it comes down to it, i spent 400 dollars and expect 400 dollars in good product. Alex here on the boards is a good person to contact, but 90% of the time, you have to call them to actually get someone to look into it. I think their email system sucks.

Pick up the phone and call them, that's really the best way of getting something resolved. How long have you had the tuner now?

Btw I'm Bama tuned and can burn the tires no problem.

What hassle? You emailed them, they promptly emailed you back and you couldn't follow up on it. Pick up the phone and call them, you'll talk to someone right away, half the battle in 5 minutes.
Mpt make good tunes, but sometimes Bama and Mpt need data logging to dial a tune in.

That's if you're not on hold for 15 mins lol.

Call them, or private message AMALexsomething. Sorry alex lol.

But that is honestly the best way, I already talked with paul, which is their lead tuning specialist, and also with alex. They both know, i am un happy with the situation, but i am pretty patient, unless i don't hear anything back within 48 hours. They are a nice company, but believe sometimes they need a little more help.

They are extremely busy, which is very understandable since they are basically a nationwide company.

You're not going to feel a huge difference right away when switching tunes because it takes about 50 miles for the ECU to adapt. It says so right in the fine print. I loaded a tune and then would go through about five tanks of gas to get the feel of it and let it adapt. Then switch and repeat.

Ok on another note has anyone tried the MPT tunes I been reading up on it and it sounds like they have pretty good tunes for 70.$ I am really curious as to how they match up to Bama.

People have done dyno comparisons and experienced 3-5 more rwhp. Unless you are tracking your car, i really dont see the need of squeezing out every last hp. Especially since you will have to switch tuning companies, wait for a tune, datalog, wait for a new tune, etc.

Working in IT, i always tell people that if you have a pressing issue, please call. Dont send an email and expect a response Asap. Chances are, they are busy and have not seen your message yet. So in essence, you are getting mad at them for something they have no clue about.

Call them. It's that easy.

Because what if you switch to MPT. Then one day you have this same issue? Will you switch to something else?

Seriously, call them when the holiday is over. It will let you sleep better.

I'm running MPT tunes, great right from the start.

Here's a review comparing MPT, Bama and Steeda tunes that may help you:

Lets talk performance tunes for 3.7 engines

I noticed a significant performance increase over the stock tune after I got used to the shift points and how the new tune works. It shifts quicker, is more responsive at the peddle, and continually pulls during acceleration all the way to WOT. I'm quite happy with it, but give Bama and your tune a chance. After all, I was driving the stock tune for a year and was used to how it performed. Just don't expect to be punched in the back like you just installed a Procharger or something. It's more subtle than that, give it a chance whichever tune you go with. You can always go with a $70 MPT tune to compare for yourself, it's not a big price to pay. Sometimes you have to do the comparison yourself, every car is different with so many variables involved. Hope this helps

Thanks MustangDawg. Thats the post I remember seeing. 3 rwhp and 8 torque. OP could get the same, a tad more, or a tad less. Depends on what bolt ons and such. And it will require wait times for tunes and data logging. I think some people get the wrong idea of the difference between tunes and expect a 10-15 hp and torque increase. It is much more subtle.

He can definitely pay the $70 to see for himself. But like I mentioned, for a daily driver, for some people it isn't worth the hassle of squeezing a couple more hp. To each their own though. He should definitely at least give Bama a call though.

I agree, but let's keep just one thing in perspective. When you pay $380 at American Muscle or Steeda or MPT, you're paying for the SCT tuner and the companies are throwing in their respective tunes for free as part of the deal. The SCT tuner will still cost the same without the tunes at any online store. So my point is, what do you want for nothing? The tunes at this point in the deal are free, so my attitude towards the tunes is not aggressive. Now, if I paid the $150 for just the tunes for life without the SCT tuner at AM, Steeda or MPT, then I would expect more from the tuner company just as if I got my single tune at a tune shop. So, all in all, a little patience and understanding goes along way when dealing with email tunes. Oh yeah, and as quite a few posters have responded, pick up the phone and talk to a person. Probably get cleared up in 5 minutes

It's not about the numbers, it's about power delivery and driveability, and you will see a difference.

Hello everyone I am here with a new update well like I said before I was going to give MPT tune a try I still have not got In contact with Bama but I will be doing that this week and I will also give an update on that, well as for MPT tune I can say that they know what they are doing and for those who like to argue no I am not saying that AM don't! As for the MPT tune I can really feel a nice difference the shifts are very smooth and it has a nice pull when going threw the gears when I stepped on the gas to do a burn out I can really say that I very pleased with how it peeled out and I can feel the shift points with a nice punch to it over all I like it I recommend that you guys try it for yourself and please let me know what you guys think ,as for my Bama tune I will get back to you guys as soon as I can later guys😜

Glad you're enjoying the MPT tune Snoopy, I knew you would. They're a great company, very professional and easy to work with. Please let me know how you like the Bama tunes when you get them. I'm interested in trying out the Steeda or Bama tunes next. They're the same price for tunes for life, so I'd be very interested in you take on Bama. Until then have fun with it. Ain't it great owning a Mustang? Most fun car I've ever owned

Thanks for the heads up TJ, I'll keep you in mind and let you know when I'm ready. BTW, you left out the "or Bama tunes next." part of my sentence. Very selective reply, I love it, lol.

I am about to get my gears swapped also. I will have to take it easy the first few days, but i can give you a full personal review next week. I currently have 3.31s though. So it wont be as big of a change like your setup.

Jon if you are going to do it might as well go to 3.73 or it will leave you wanting more I don't want a race car but I do want to be able to feel the power when I step on it or when having fun

^+1 Yeah, I know, KoneBlue. That's why I linked to it and it should be a sticky. It's a great starting point when comparing Bama, MPT and Steeda. Well thought out and written, well done

Thanks sir. πŸ‘ I like all three but strongly recommend starting out with Bama and get MPT after one is done power modding.

Have a great day!
