No, both of your factory keys will work with this.

But you need I have both keys in order to program the device.

Oh. Got it. Thought it was needed for a bypass module of sorts. Thanks!

Yeah, I see what you're saying.

There are some that need a dummy key to work.

This one doesn't need that. Works just like a factory installed unit would work.

Trust me. Get ittttttttt. It rocks.

Installed mine yesterday. What a nightmare that was. The first panel under the wheel was easy, just two bolts and it popped right out. Then there was a metal frame underneath it. 4 bolts and it was out of the way. The steering wheel column cover was a pain. The bottom part didn't simply snap off after removing two torx screws. I fought it a while. It and the top part actually separated, each came off. The bottom part was hanging so I looked in there with my flash light, and in the center of the rear end of it was sort of a column (for lack of better description) holding it up. It appeared that I broke a couple of tabs off the bottom of that, not wanting to force it any further I decided to just work around it hanging there.
The main ignition plug and the interrupter plug were, of course, on the ignition switch itself. But both were facing the dash. The interrupter was almost impossible to see. I managed to get those out. Then I removed the diagnosis port. This was not easy as the screws were in at a 45 degree angle facing the firewall. The hex heads were really shallow. So it was difficult keeping my socket on them. On the video that hung about a foot and a half, nope, not on my car. I got maybe 3 inches then it was taped into a larger loom. I managed to cut the tape back just far enough to squeeze the taps between wires to close on my Can high and can low wires. Then I followed the directions for programming on the video. That part went flawlessly. Now it was time to tie everything up and put back together. I fought with the plastic on the steering column for what seemed like an eternity. I FINALLY got it snapped together. The diagnosis port went back on surprisingly easy. The rest of it was a peace of cake.
I started at 6 PM and finished at 7:50. Time wise it wasn't too bad. I am glad it is behind me.

Remote starter

Works great! Took me about an hour and a half and I have never done anything like that before! As I said in a previous post, I called the tech support on a Sunday and was called back within minutes.

So does anybody's remote work from further than 50ft? I'd like to get this but can't justify it when I can spit a watermelon seed the distance of the key fob's range...

I spent the extra $ and got this one REMOTE START SYSTEM - BI-DIRECTIONAL - Ford (AG1Z-19G364-A) and can start my car from about 900 ft away. It sure is nice to be able to start your car when the parking lot is so far away. Money well spent in my opinion.

I'll look up that one when I get home. Is there another fob with it or does it use the regular key.

I guess I'd still really like the EasyGO system I posted about a while back, still getting over the price on that, though.

It has a separate fob. Still worth the money.

The only way to get more range is to get a seperate fob.

That being said, I am impressed with the range of my key fob. I would guestimate it to be about 150ft.

Did you install that at the dealership?

I did the install myself. I had someone at the dealership print out the installation instructions. I did LOTS of research on this install before tackling it. It took me about three hours because I was taking my time.

Just installed this on my 2013 mustang conv. today. Took about an hour. Pretty simple after watching the video. It works great, only problem is, for some reason my windshield wipers don't work now. My wife has the car at work right now, so i cant check the fuses, but has anyone else had this problem? I don't really see why it would interfere with the wiper operation. Windshield fluid doesn't work either.

Remote Start! $115 plug n play

Check to make sure everything is clipped in tightly in the steering column.

Sounds like the connector for the wiper stalk is loose.

Do your blinkers work?

This thing will add weight to your car and slow down your 1/4 time. I'll pass.

I heard that remote start system will make it easier for thieves to steal your car. The tech savvy thieves can intercept the radio signals.

I don't know what good that will do them unless they know how to bypass the locked transmission, and set the ignition to the "on" position. If the key is not turned to the "on" position hitting the brake kills the engine.

It isn't activated by the radio signal. It's only the signal to lock the car. You press it twice and that activates the auto start.

And even if they did get it started, once you press the brake to put it into gear the car will stall.

The thieves that have the capability to intercept and generate signals are pro's. You can't stop a pro.

If they are that good they can get your car whether you have remote start or not.

Pro's will be able to get your car regardless of whether you have this installed or not.

I take comfort knowing pro thieves have better things to steal than my V6 Mustang.

Just ordered one from carkart.com (said they only had 1 left). Paid $131.95 shipped. Has the exact same description as the one sold through amazon (which has been unavailable for a long time). Now I just need to get a second key made + programmed and install the remote start over thanksgiving weekend. Hope it all works out...

Does anyone know if this will work with the manual transmission, or what's needed to make it work? Thanks

So today confirmed that, next to my tune, this is my favorite mod I've done to my car.

I keep my spare key on my nightstand so on cold mornings I start my car as soon as I wake up. It was 30 degrees out this morning and everyone's windshield was iced up.

By the time I got out to my car, it was totally defrosted and toasty.

Worth every penny.
