Installed it Thanksgiving weekend, works perfectly. Installation was fairly easy though I broke the clips to get the cover/housing around the steering wheel off. However, what was new to me is that in order to turn off the car I now have to pull the key out.

Been looking at several different brands that offer this product. My question is for those who already have it installed. How often is there a need for a firmware update. I ask, because the ones I find sale a separate module to plug in for the updating. This for a $40-50 price.

Does this come with every thing that I would need for the installation or would I have to buy something else. And also what does it mean you have to program it with a separate flash link?

I've never had to update anything for it.

It comes with all the installation components needed. What I was talking about is periodically it will need a firmware update. That flash drive is sold separately. Also I can not find any information on how often the firmware update will need to done. It may never need it. I just know the flash drive is for sale

Are we talking about the same unit?

Nowhere does it say anything about having to update the firmware on the decide posted by the OP (the one I also have). There isn't a USB port on the device so even if it did need to be updated you'd have to disassemble the steering column again to get to it. Doesn't make sense to me.

It's a set it and forget it thing.

Mine doesn't do that. It shuts down just like it always did.

I have never seen anything about any firmware updates either. I have never heard of that on any remote start system.

I know what your talking about it I've seen them for sale and on their main website, but it's basically because that model starter works for many makes and model, so you use that to download the correct firmware for you vehicle to my understanding, but if you order from the seller on Amazon they do it all for you!

I installed mine today just got it super fast shipping although now they are shipping from Florida so took them two days. Easiest install ever. It still took me three hours but 2 and a half was trying to program the thing with the wrong set of instructions. Broke a small tab on the steering column back where the third screw was (didn't know it had one so it broke and I had to take the screw out). Luckily it just snapped and the screw should hold back in its place. Also this new kit will work for a lot more people now. The optional accessories now include a long range rf kit for those that want long range. They also made it possible to program with just one key through a dycrptor thing they have. Best of all it can now be controlled from a smartphone. Oh also it says that it's new not sure if it is but it says it works as an alarm system now.

What r u currently stuck on I'll try to help u as best as I can I did mine 2 weeks ago so I'm fairly confident in it. If it's just programming look on their website they sent me the wrong programming info and I sat there trying to get it to work for 2 hours and when I got the right one it took me 30 seconds

5 1/2 hours later I just finished. Mine never came with t taps. I went to the store and bought some and even thought they were the wrong ones they worked. That was horrible. Worst part was taking apart the steering column plastic.
