Yea, I was going to go 3.55s. But having 3.31s already, I felt it wasn't going to be worth it. Like....I wouldn't see much of a difference. Would have been $700 for poo if I went 3.55s.

Yup. I pulled up and the owner was standing outside saving me a parking spot. He is also installing my BMR lcas and checking out my tick tick header thing.

They had lots of Mustangs there. Mostly older ones. Which was nice. The owner had a white 2015 GT w/ track pack and recaros. Very nice.

I asked the owner to make sure I can hang on to the 3.31s after they install the 3.73s and he said yea. So if you want them, throw me an offer.

No... lol a little more dirty than that ha.

If you're looking for money out of it throw an offer. Buying used gears is sometimes a hit or miss, because if the pattern isn't 100% the same or damn close to it, they will howl

Of course you can keep them. I got back every single part that was either taken out or not used. They are your parts not his.

Picked up my car. Tech said he got the backlash at 10000 which is in range of where Ford puts it. Said to drive it normal for the first 500 miles. Loaded up my updated tune for 3.73s. Babied it on the way home. Didn't notice anything yet with the rear LCAs. But I probably won't until I can drive it a bit more aggressive. The tech even looked over my headers to see if he could pinpoint where the ticking was happening. But they could not find any exhaust leaks or anything. So he mentioned on these aftermarket headers, sometimes noise is common. Because they don't muffle the sounds as well as the cast iron stock manifolds.

I wish I could but don't feel like paying for install right now. Plus I just kinda feel like going right to the 3.73's. Lol, Let us know how they are once broken in!!!

I didn't notice this on my first drive back from the shop. But I took my car for a 2nd spin tonight. Around 55-60 mph (not going any higher right now), I notice a slight howl from the gears upon minor acceleration and deceleration. But only in that range. Should this go away after the break in period and fluid change?

Here are the specs the tech gave me during the install he did:

Pinion Shim - .023
L/H Carrier Shim - .281
R/H Carrier Shim - .260
Back Lash - .010 (Ford Spec: .008 to .012)
Pinion Preload set to 20 inch pounds.
Axle Seals and Bearings - No issues found

Take it back you shouldn't have any howl in my opinion. Even I had howl after my gear install and took it back then it's been fine for 5 months now.

I spoke with the tech and he said he got everything within spec. So he told me to drive it for a bit and if it doesn't change after the fluid flush, to let him know.

I do have a slight whine but really really faint which is due to my BMR upper control. You can't hear unless you want to hear it. If your running lower control arms only you should not hear howl tho

ZERO noise or howl is exceptable, PERIOD, NO excuses.
Ford Racing gears, synthetic gear oil (Amsoil) and FRPP friction modifier equals perfectly silent performance always.
DO NOT allow them to convince you of anything else.
Good Luck,
Have Fun!!

I was told having a 1 piece aluminum driveshaft doesn't help either. As it doesn't muffle vibration noise and stuff as well as the stock one. When driving today, it was a hair more quiet. So I will give it till the fluid flush after break in to see if it goes away.

Does anyone know the specs for what the Pinion Preload should be? I have googled why I hear the howling during the times I do and it said the Pinion Preload may be out of spec and to recheck it.

Honestly, ive had 3.55, 3.73, 3.31 ... it just seems the steeper you go the more natural noise they make. Are we talking a noise you can hear or a noise that is obvious and intrusive?

Noise that I can hear. I slight howling sound when barely putting down on the gas pedal at 55-60 mph as well as deceleration around 55-60 mph.

I also have it around 55-60 with 1 piece aluminum driveshaft. I just consider it part of the game.

I get that all the time on that app. LOL

At least I am not alone. I bet if I had the stock driveshaft I wouldn't even hear it.
