Call and complain, yell and scream if needed. Ive had some issues with stuff from AM and they handled it pretty well. I cant be 100% sure but I don't think Alex will be able to do much more. Speak with some one who can do something about it, ask for a manager. I spoke with some one there before and I think his name was Tony. He was a real nice guy and took care of my issue quickly.

Yea. I like working with people who have previous knowledge of your experiences and stuff. I hate getting new people or reps involved because you always have to bring them up to speed, and sometimes their end comment is different then what you would have gotten from someone who is familiar with your history.

Alrighty. Seems like Alex is going to get me fixed up in a way that takes the edge off this craziness. Hopefully I can get this all done before my vaca in a couple of weeks. Thanks everyone so far for your help and advice.

Wow!!!!! That sucks. The only thing I ever came across before swapping mine is to be mindful of how you drive your Mustang until the gears are broken in. If they are stressed to much out the gate, this sort of thing happens. Even the guy who did my install said the same thing. I was on some str8 Broham driving for a month lol. I got funny looks by passerby's lol

Oh yea. I am 250 miles in and I have babied it to the point I am questioning if I am even driving a Mustang. Lol.

But it doesn't seem what I do, nothing will fix that broken bearing without a rebuild. So I was one of the unlucky ones.

What is sad is I will have to go through a whole new break in period. I wasn't even done with this one. So I have yet to feel what 3.73s are really like.

I get you man I'm going to have to get a gear change soon because I will be going down to 3.55s when I get a pro charger but I'm still debating about if I should keep my 3.73s with it or not

You can always try it first and see if it is acceptable with your setup. I would do that before spending hundreds for a swap.

Yeah I do have a whine but it's not loud you can't even hear unless you know it's there. It's one of those things where I know it's there cuz it's my car but other won't notice it. It's a really slight howl which could also just be nvh from my control arms but I'm not going to spend money to get a new gear install until I need it.

Gotcha. Right now I am just waiting for clarification or further word from AM. Alex said someone should be calling me. And that was around noon today. I haven't heard anything yet or received any emails for shipping info. Hopefully I hear something soon because I want the shop to start working on this Monday.

Thanks. I just want to get this all done and have the break in period over with. I really want to see what difference there is between 3.31s and 3.73s. During normal granny driving due to break in, I didn't notice a thing so far.

Kevin - I'd like to think of it being like driving a 2.3l Fox for a month straight and then getting dropped into another fox with a 347 Stroker (That's an exaggeration of course) but the difference it down right nuts I assure you that you're going to be blown away by them once you're through the break in period.

Kevin, so sorry to hear about you going through this! I had the same saga about a year ago, but it was because my purchasing dealership, Framingham Ford, botched a gear install under warranty. Gears howled like crazy during accel and decel, and eventually the carrier bearing started to fail. After weeks of back-and-forth with Cust Service and the dealer, I decided to buy a new set of FRPP 3.31 gears, an install kit, and have a guy recommended by an old-timer mechanic do the setup.

I have the tiniest bit of decel whine mostly around 40-45 mph, but I think that may be due to the poly bushings in my rear LCAs, end links, and PHB. 12k miles later and no problems. I'm running RP 75w140 with one bottle of the Ford friction modifier; break-in for the first ~1500 miles was with straight dino 85w90 gear oil.

Install ran me around $550 labor (install kit had wrong axle bearings, which the mechanic had to procure) plus around $275 parts and fluids. Mechanic did the labor for the first fluid change for free. Regional Ford CSM twisted the dealer's arm into cutting me a check for around $525 (for a credit that had magically disappeared at the dealer), so I was still out a few hundred bucks, but at least my car works now.

And I haven't been to a dealer since for any maintenance.

Yea. As you can see, i made alot of calls here in Austin and barely anyone does this for cheap.

Here is a comprehensive list of places in Austin, TX that do performance mods. This way, no one wastes their time. Now you can see why I am soo limited to shops around here. No big names like Steeda to do the installs.

AAMCO on Burnet Road. They do installs for $700 if you provide all your own parts and fluid.

4Wheels will do it for 850 if you dont get the warranty. With Warranty, it is $1,150.

Pro Modular Performance does it for 700-750. That is for the kit and labor. for just labor, you are looking at around $500.

Aikman Performance won't even pick up their phone or call you back. Went through this before with my 2011 V6 for 4 weeks straight.

Annihilator Customs does not do gear swaps.

Ford Dealers near me won't do anything past 3.31 on V6s.

MZM Performance does not work on American cars.

Boost Logic only works on higher end cars (Lamborghinis, GT-Rs, Porsches, etc), and it's usually for big projects.

Elite Racing Development - I called these people and they said they didn't want to do these types of jobs.

Eagle Transmission - They do not give over the phone quotes, they have to take a look at everything needed and what is going on in person before giving a quote. So this can vary.

Cottman Transmission and Auto Care - They said if they did do the gear install and I provided parts, that the labor would be 700-900.

Ike's Transmission - Quoted 600-1000 depending on the time it takes them. That is for labor only.

Lol. They all said with the type of differential our cars have, they normally charge triple then what other cars call for, labor wise. I was like "????"

On a side note, car was dropped off at the shop last night. They will be working on it today and Monday. Then a shop next to them has to repaint some scratches and fix a small dent. I should have it back by Thursday night or Friday morning.
