Good Luck,
Have Fun!!
Only thing I forgot to mention was having only Mustang shops install gears.
I've done my research, spent hours inside of Excessive's garage watching, asking questions.
Anyway, NO noise or whine is acceptable or they are re installing mine again for free. PERIOD.
Once you get it all together, it will be a blast, a lot of fun!

On a side note, car was dropped off at the shop last night. They will be working on it today and Monday. Then a shop next to them has to repaint some scratches and fix a small dent. I should have it back by Thursday night or Friday morning.

8.8's have been around since the 80's if not longer.... if someone doesn't know how to set one up needs to be fired.

If you know how to do gears properly, you can do any.

Good luck on things being right with the gears on pick up. Anxious to see how it works out. You have definately got my mind right about buying kit from AM and having someone else install. I will not be running risk of what you've gone through. I sincerely appreciate you sharing this experience.

That's one of the nice parts of dealing with Steeda.... check in; watch TV in their lounge; about 4 hours later, drive home.

Body shop keeps f***ing me around. Good thing is, is that they are near the shop that did my gear install. So the performance shop owner went and got my keys from the body shop for me and said to come get it. This way the body shop wouldn't try to hold my car.

So I will be picking up my car today. Going to look for another body shop. Might have one in mind.

If anyone on here is around Austin, Texas, stay away from Eli's Collision and Custom. Had my car for a week and never touched it. Kept telling me it would be done the next day.

I will be adding a GT Sound tube to my car and a JLT Catch Can.

For anyone curious about where your RPM's will be with 3:73 gears. You can see my speed along with the RPM's and I have 3:73 gears.

I captured this using my OBII device and Dash Command on Android.

Have a great day!

Forget that! What are you spinning at 75-80? Lmao at the HP AND TQ numbers you were pulling there btw. I know it's all relevant to how much throttle your applying but it was kinda funny you gotta admit.

I actually had it set for cruise control and have no idea what exactly those HP and torque numbers meant. They are real low. Ha ha ha. By the looks of those numbers a Prius should be able to kick my a$$. Ha ha ha

Have a great day!

That's about right. You actually don't use much hp or tq when you're cruising on the highway. You have inertia on your side.

Yea at 65 I am at about 2000-2100 RPM. When at 40-45, I am at like 1100-1200 RPM. So its not really that bad.

I got my car and drove it for about 50 miles yesterday. Not really hearing any howling. Mainly just increased NVH from the rear lower control arms I assume.

Well a tough lesson learned is that the sound tube doesn't do much with a CAI due to how they are constructed? I added my sound tube last night and took it for a few spins. Heard 0 difference. Even tried removing the foam baffles.

When I bought it, it was an option. I think the options were Red, Light Blue, or Grey. But I have used the filter for about a year and it has got darker. Not sure if AM offers the option, but you could shop around, other vendors might.

I might take a look at that. I have a friend who works at Annihilator Customs reviewing the damage and should have a quote from them by tomorrow.

Hey Kevin how's your mpg with the new gear, I'm thinking about getting the 373 as well. I don't mind the mpg since I only drive my car on the weekend but I'm just curious.

So far with City and Highway combined I am looking at a range of 19.2-19.6 as my avg mpg. Honestly, I wasn't getting much different with the 3.31s. lol I think your foot has the biggest factor in it. Once I am out of the break in period, I am sure it will drop to like a flat 19.

Nice man its about the same as mine with the 331 on city so it will drop a little bit when I go 373.. I got a deal here in mass for 500 that's with parts and labor all Ford racing parts. This is what they specialize gears and transmission shop.

I'm just worried about the whine that iv heared about with this gears.

Yea I took it for another spin today and right AT 55 MPH I can hear a super faint howling. But other then at that specific speed, its quiet. And it makes it worse that I am listening for it. I bet if my wife drove, she would think everything was fine.

Can you feel the difference in accelerating? I know you're still in the break in period but just by feathering it can you tell that it's there?

Unfortunately I cannot. I mainly cruise it to 40-50 MPH lightly. I am trying hard to not get my car in the shop again for another gear rebuild. lol

I bet once it's broken in, when I floor it, my a$$ is going to be in the back seat. LOL

Cool. I'm looking for some trans maintenance and d/s install... all set with gears for now.

@Kevin, that slight whine you hear is probably from the aftermarket rear suspension bits.

How about a CD or flash drive with the engine sound of your choice.
Trouble with that though is you can't listen to your music at the same time.
EDIT: Oh yeah! and it wouldn't be in sync with your right foot.
