Trading up to a 2011

Going to look at a 2011 tomorrow and trading my 09 v6 maybe .I really enjoy the 09 except the fact it's underpowered and my wife loves the car . My question is has anyone moved up to a 2011 and if so how much difference is there vs the 09?...I know the engine is much quicker but what about the ride quality overall handling ...Any input would be great

The chassis is the exact same between the 05-09s and the 11-14s. Maybe the springs are slightly different, maybe the shocks are valved slightly different, the 11-14 V6 gets the same brakes as the 3v GT, but all in all i would say the car should be shockingly similar.

The 05 to 10 have sohc engines. Rounding to around 200 hp. Also they are 5 speed. The interior and exterior gets a facelift. You will love the new sequential tail lights that are stock on 2010 and up.

The 11 and up have 305 hp at the crank. You will definitely feel the difference in power.

I believe 05-10 came stock with 3.31s because they had a 7.5" spline. The 11 and up have 2.73 gears with an 8.8" spline. Getting at least 3.31s will make these fun little cars.

The 11 and up get a dohc engine which cranks out more power. Also, they become 6 speed. Giving it a slight edge over 05-10 imo. I have a friend who has a 2010 v6 and with my 2014 v6, it was not much of a challenge.

On 11 and up Premiums, you get MyColor which gives a nice touch to the interior. I believe 05-10 has it also but idk how good it is. Also, the center console cup holder has a lid to flip over if you want it covered or not (its the little things )

Dual exhaust also comes standard on 2011 and up.

The 11 and up v6s you have a chance to get the pony package or performance package. The pony package is for bling while the Performance Package makes for a fun little weekend car.

Compared to my 05, my 14 is a whole different car. Not only performance, but handling as well. Of course, I had over 100k miles on it so there was a noticeable difference when going from old worn suspension to brand new lol.

I don't see too much of a drop in price in my area between 11/12 and 13/14. Probably wouldn't be too much more to spring for a newer model. That way you're upgrading the headlights and tail lights as well as that awful side molding.

Love the bodystyle of the 2011!! But it doesn't cost much more to upgrade years...I'd be more concerned with condition and mileage then year!

I went from a 2009 to a 2014 and the car really does feel better. The ride quality has improved and the car does feel a lot quicker. I had the same tires on my 2009 that i have on my 2014 and i can tell you that the car feels more planted to the road. Not sure what changed with the years on the suspension but i can definitely take turns better in my 2014 than in my old car. The car feels smoother too when driving around and everyone that has been in my 2014 has noticed the improved ride quality. I loved my 2009 but this 2014 absolutely feels better.

I own a 14 and have driven the 05-09 V6. There's no comparison at all. Performance wise the 11+ will feel very different in a great way.

Update on 2011

Went to test drive the 2011 stang sat really liked the car much quieter and handled much better then our 09 v6 wasn't to crazy about the 2.73 gears though but it pull like crazy when u punched it loved that ...Also the wife really liked it .But when we took it back to the dealer to talked price pulled it in and sun was shining on the drivers side of the car ..the wife said step back and look at it the front fender it was a lighter color than the rest of the car. Then the salesman said oh yea it did show it was in a accident on the car fax... Guess i'll keep looking ..
