Illuminated Door Sill Plates

Has anyone on here installed the illuminated door sill plates on a 2014. I have the kit but need some more detailed instructions.

Did you get the accessory kit from Ford? Coming from a 2011 Premium, I couldn't install them in my 2014. They looked like knock offs. So I bought pull outs from another Premium so I could get them to change to the color Blue.

You will have to wire the passenger up through the A pillar on the Passenger's side. Then for the drivers side, you feed the wire through under the dash. You tap in to the dome lights. If you tap in to the wrong one in the wire harness, you will blow a fuse to something or the car won't start. lol. Ask me how I know.

The harness in the A pillar that you tap in to seems to be different for different years.

That link will give you a basic outline. Keep in mind the color of the wires in the harness is different for your year. So don't tap in to the wrong ones. If you do, keep some spare fuses handy. LOL

Illuminated Door Sill Plates

I recently added some footwell LEDs on my 14. I tapped into the dome light so it illuminates when doors open and dims to off when shut. Just so you know, it is the gray/purple wire in the dome light. Click image for larger version

I then wired it to a connector if I ever have to take the dome light off for whatever reason..

Looks pretty cool at night when opening the doors, and emits a heck of a lot more light than the dome alone..

By tapping into that wire pictured, it will illuminate when the doors open and dim when shut just like the dome light. If you turn them on from the switch next to the headlight switch, it will also work. But, if you click the button/s on the dome light itself, they will not illuminate.

This is for a 2014 mustang v6. May be different with other years/models.

Run the wires down from the A pillar after splicing into the wires described - split them under the dash to run one set to the drivers side, one to the pass side . Note the connectors to the sill plates are a 4 (if I remember correctly) wire connector. If you don't have my color you will have to find the combo for the right color you want. The sill pigtail wires are all black.
If you actually bought a Ford install kit(?) this may be different.

The ford install kit just has a negative and positive. It doesnt allow for changing of light colors.
