2014 mustang manual transmission

So I just got home from a 4 hour drive and when I got near home I hit traffic so I put car in neutral. Normally, I'll shift left to right while in neutral...but today I noticed that when I moved the stick towards the left (1-2 gears) it felt very stiff as opposed to when I move it towards (5-6). Car went into gears as normal. I did previously uninstall a short shifter and put stock one back on there. Am I imagining things or what? Thanks

was it hot out? I wonder if the long ride/high temps made the linkage bind.

just thinking out loud on this guess.

still doing it? If not I wonder if my guess was correct, if so I would recheck my shifter re-install.

Check the dust boot, itll get jammed up in the reverse lock out and make it difficult to move towards the driver if not reinstalled properly.

This^

When I installed my short shifter, it took me longer to make sure the boot was seated than the actual install. I ended up going under the car and pulling the boot in place from underneath. A heck of a lot easier than doing it from above.
