My inflator was replaced a few weeks ago, only took 30 minutes . The service guy told me to not be surprised if you get a recall notice for the passenger side in a few months

Dealer told me it would take half a day. Their going to shuttle me home and back. I think I could do it in an hour. That's sour news regarding the passenger side recall.

All but 30 minutes of that half day is waiting for a spot in the shop and a tech to be free to do it. Queue time as it is called in the manufacturing world.

I just made a "FIRST" appointment on the first available day they had one open.
They open at 7 AM and I got there at 6:40 AM and was first.
I went into the dealers restaurant and was having breakfast when the guy came in and told me my car was done.
I wasn't even done eating yet.
No reason your dealer can't do the same for you.( Unless they are a Crap dealer)

The driver side replacement took about an hour and I confirmed that the passenger side will be recalled in the future.

Maybe it could be arranged that an independent shop does the work?

Hi Spartanator,
If you hate "YOUR" dealer,
Just find another dealer to do it.

Problem is that the 3 closest dealers aren't very good. 1 lacks techs, 1 lost their finance license and is still financing customers then you have mine, which are expanding so their priorities are else where. Not to mention most of the Service managers that are on the backside of the hill think I don't know what a car does, in my area at least. I suggested what was wrong with my car before I knew there was a TSB for it, the techs didn't believe me. After I used Google from the parking lot I figured out the TSB on the timing chain tensioner and suggested they look for it in their system....

One thing gone good for you is that they probably already did a bunch of the recalls so they should not have a problem with yours.

And the deaths from Takata airbags keep coming, sadly: U.S. confirms 11th death linked to faulty Takata air bag inflator | Reuters.

Still waiting on FoMoCo...it's only been 16 months and counting from my first letter from them.

I've called around to all three of our dealers and not a single one A) has the parts, or B) Seems to care one bit about doing it in the first place.

You have to take the letter that says your recall part is at the dealer. Go to your dealer to make an appointment to have the inflator replaced. If they don't have the inflator (my dealer did not have it), your dealer will order the inflator with your VIN number. I think mine took around 5 or 6 weeks to arrive to my dealer after they ordered it.

I'm sad and mad to see people still being killed by the inflators

30 million airbags recalled;
11.5 million replaced in last 9 years...
so, 2040 before they are finally done....

Just had my 08 drivers side done. No word on the passenger side and the service manager laughed when I asked him about the 2014 bag timing.
