Bbk headers cracked almost completely

So today I hit a bump in the road and almost broke my header completely off at the collector. Almost no damage to anything else but this happened to the header. Being my only car, this sucks....

Sorry to hear about that. When did you buy the header? Is it from AM?

Did you have a header wrap on there?

Nope, no header wrap, and no real signs of wear on the headers otherwise

What I would do, is replace the headers. Then get those welded and fixed. Then sell them to get some money back. Shouldnt cost much for a muffler shop to re-weld those.

Honestly bbk is somewhat no bueno. A few of us here preach it and take a lot of flack. The quality just isn't there with their products and their design is poor. Hope you get fixed up quick, I would talk to am when you can.

I would RMA them through AM or BBK... get NEW replacements and sell those.

Why would someone buy a set of headers that has one cracked and then welded to fix it? Better to have it welded and keep them.

Bbk headers cracked almost completely

Bbk welding quality is terrible. I ground every weld on mine and re welded them before instal. Every weld but one had a crack when I got mine. I'm a weld inspector for work so naturally I xrayed all my welds and they are complete junk.

It sounds terrible, finishing my drive home was painful. Now with a few mentions of how bad these welds are (and having a leak in the passenger side collector on my first set) I'm wondering if getting them welded shut might be a better option than a new pair...

Grind the welds and fix them. There's no reason to buy another set with junk welds. I have xrayed a few now and most there welds are junk. Using a pmi gun which tells me the materials used they are using the wrong wire to weld these. Terrible quality on there behalf

I just had that seam re-welded and put it back on my car, being the second issue I've had with their welds I figured it might be better to just have it fixed than put on a new pair. I love the sound/performance but I swear if I have to take those headers off one more time I'll snap and go crazy.
