gear install near springfield IL?

Hello everyone looking to do 4.10's on my car and was wondering if anyone knew a shop near springfield?

I already contacted ken in petersburg and he said it would take a minimum of 5.5 hours, up to 7, and id be looking at 350-450.

Any info would be great thanks!

If you find a good price, do post! I'm near Springfield and one day may do this as well.

5.5 hrs is a long *** time to do just gears. Is he serious? The shop time book that they legally go by in Michigan slots 2.25 hrs max with 1.7 being the avg.

Whatever you do, make sure the shop warranties the work and parts. Even if they have to provide the parts.

Saw your nightmare story kevin, will definately keep an eye out!

Shop called McQuinns gave me a great rate, and he has done all sorts of work for 40+ years. Was really impressed by him and what he was doing, and at 375 I think ill go his way. I really prefer local shops, I mean I went through Ken Brittin in Petersburg for exhaust work and it was an amazing job. He did silver chromed muffler deletes and 18" glasspacks, really makes the car sound mean at high end but rumbly down low.

Auto Socal Its alot of gear, but itll give me the kick in the pants I want.

Im also consigering having a GT H pipe welded in. I know its a thicker diameter but ive heard alot of people suggest it, any input?

Personally I was going to go with the Ford Cut and Clamp X Pipe. Same diameter but gives a nice gurgle.

Are you providing your own gear kit or are they providing it? It is best if they do so it is all warrantied. In case you get ANY type of weird issues with the gears later. Even though the shop techs are experienced, it still does not rule out a bearing could mess up later. It happens.

If this is your DD don't do it. I have 3.73's with a manual and I pretty much have to drive in 6th gear a lot. If im in 5th doing 50-60 Im turning around 3500 RPM's. At some point I think Ill drop down to 3.55 or 3.31's. 4.10 for a DD to me would be too much.
