Raxiom Nav. Woes

So today when I hopped in my car this morning on my way home, my display screen was frozen and not showing the songs playing on my iPod. I didn't think much of it, because it hiccups from time to time. But when the screen went blank and the touch screen stopped working for the most part I got worried. After coming home and heading out a few hours later I notice when I was walking up to my car the screen was lit up and displaying the Raxiom logo. I open the door and it turns off. I start up my car and then what I experience earlier continued to happen. i did a hard reset and still have no change in it. Could the extreme temps and my car sitting outside when at worked fried something inside the head unit? I've always been of fan of it and it bothers my that the money I spent is now loss with only a little over a year of use

Interesting, I do not get power to mine unless the Key is on, so interesting that you saw the screen lit up before you got in the car and it turned off as soon as you opened the door. I am guessing that it only had a one year warranty so that really sucks.

The screen has completely stopped working. The final verdict is that I need to swapped the touch screen bezel since the rest of the unit still works. This is what I was told from tech support. Here's the bomb that crushed my hopes. AM will not sell me the touchscreen bezel so my only option is to buy a whole new unit. I'm extremely disappointed. Warranties don't last forever, so the fact that parts are not available for purchase pisses me off #UltimateFail

I just installed this in my car last weekend. I'm praying I don't have these issues in the near future, because I do love the system. Hope you figure something out!

After some things I've heard about the Raxiom unit, I've been kind of turned off. This seals the deal for me though. What a bummer.

Sorry to hear about your Nav OP.

That sucks man. I also believe Raxiom has some quality issues. I have some fog lights and one of them is starting to go out already. Contact Alex and see if he can help you.

There's no excuse for a $600-700 piece of equipment to crap out in just over a year. Completely unacceptable.

You just said a few days ago in my post that this would be your next mod, damn you move fast! Lol. Hopefully we got 2 good ones!!! I've had mine in for five days and no issues yet, guess I gotta give it more time to see. I do love this unit still anyway!

The way it seems. These tend to fail after being used for a while. In OPs case, right after the 1 yr warranty mark. Hopefully AM can do you a solid. But remember they also have to use the RMA to get their money back from the vendor, so if it is outside of their time frame also, their hands might be tied.

Thanks JB - I'm not hear to split hairs ever and I'm wondering where the disconnect was in our contact center as Raxiom offered a 2 Year Warranty - Either way I'm going to get the OP set up in no time!

Did I mention that we do have a MustangEvolution Forums Discount Code...Oh wait! You guys knew that!

OP Shot me a PM last night but I had some power issues at my place due to a nice storm that came through. Once I hear back from him I'll have everything setup.

That is funny.

I just picked up some caliper covers and Hawk front and rear brake pads from AM. Going this route instead of Brembos. Wife keeps reminding me we need to eventually save for a house. lol.

The wife is always right!

I'd like to get those pads when I need to replace mine. I always seem to see a lot of people going with hawk for pads. Let me know how they are.

Will do. I got the guaranteed 2 day shipping. So I hope they get sent out soon. Because I want to get these and the caliper covers put on by this weekend. I have to get my wheels rotated and balanced so it would be best to do these at that time since the wheels will be off.

Makes sense to me, I'd do the same. Which exact hawk pads did you go with?

Cool, I'll keep those in mind when I need them. I have had my caliper covers for about a year now and I did notice less brake dust after I installed them.

This would have been a nonissue if it was a simple warranty issue, but it's not my situation. Even with a two year warranty means nothing if the warranty expires before an issue arises. The issue is not being able to order replacement parts. I could see if it was a wear and tear item from mileage, but this is electronics which are prone to failure which mileage will be a non factor. So if it's not possible to order replacement parts, that's very disconcerting

I really think it has something to do with the extreme temperatures we have been experiencing

Except that it's been hotter at home than it has at the beach these past few days. Car was in the shade and actually cooler than in the house...
